New Nevada: Republicans seek to form another state by ousting Las Vegas to stop urban people
Fear over the political choices made by "urban people" is driving efforts to slip Nevada into two states to dilute the power of voters in Las Vegas.
"Launched in January, 2019, the New Nevada State Movement has spent the last two years working to bring together those who would like to see Clark County severed from the rest of the state, but with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March of last year, the group's momentum was slowed. That did not stop the New Nevada State Movement from moving forward, however, and now that the pandemic has eased and restrictions are no longer so stringent, the group is ready to get back into high gear, with its very first in-person meeting set for tomorrow, Thursday, July 8," the Pahrump Valley Times reports.
The meeting is taking place at the Nye County Republican Central Committee Headquarters. Donald Trump won the county by 40% points.

36k is the per cap personal income and I would think Vegas provides many of those jobs in the hospitality industry.

(810 posts)The kind of crazy shit Republicans spout these days sounds like the kind of crazy shit we used to spout after getting stoned, and maybe listening to Cheech and Chong. The differences, of course, are we were young and we controlled no levers of government. These Republicans purport to be grown-ass adults. (Obviously, they are not, but that's what they claim.)

(62,270 posts)Since it's some of the cheapest land in America by price per acre. Prices have been surging because some dipshits are trying to start some new mining acquisitions. BLM hands new land out like candy because it's really just deserted land that has hardly any environmental value (no endangered species, stuff like that, no one there to advocate for them anyways if they were there). Just land grabbing by old boomers who want in on this new era of a free state, whilst the big real estate companies that bought the land wholesale decades ago are laughing to the bank.
