Republicans were caught on video thanking Manchin & Sinema for blocking Dem legislation. Lets make this viral and make it clear were sick and tired of Manchin & Sinemas obstruction. Theyre only helping Republicans while not helping the American people.

(26,731 posts)Very possibly AZ as well.
Mr.Bill
(24,282 posts)if we flip a handful of Senate seats elsewhere. That will be easier than rehabilitating these two. Although if we do that in 2022 watch Manchin and Sinema suddenly get in line.
FBaggins
(26,731 posts)"if we flip a handful of Senate seats elsewhere" can only be the start of a politically useless theory. Every senate seat is important (the difference between 59 and 60 made a difference just a few years ago). This is very likely to be true in 2024 when we have many more seats to defend.
Incredibly shortsighted.
Mr.Bill
(24,282 posts)other than currently giving us a thin majority if they won't vote with us.

(16,370 posts)Because there are 50 Democratic senators, Chuck Schumer is majority leader instead of the turtle. That's actually a pretty BFD.

(67,782 posts)....to be primaried and defeated so they can run against Democrats that would probably lose.
Manchin and Sinema are Democrats that have proven they can win in West Virginia and Arizona.
Anyone know of any other Democrats that could win?
kirkuchiyo
(402 posts)We wouldn't need those two seats necessarily. But unless the filibuster goes that isn't going to happen.
IronLionZion
(45,432 posts)so a more liberal candidate can win there.
George II
(67,782 posts)...he won is that he ran against a very weak incumbent republican who was appointed after losing to Sinema.
Look at the list of Senators from Arizona over the last several decades. Sinema and Kelly are the only Democrats going all the way back to 1988. The only Democrat was Dennis DeConcini who served from 1977 to 1995. Before that the next previous Democrat was Carl Hayden served until 1969 (first elected in 1927) and Ernest McFarland who served until 1953.
No, there are not many Democrats who can run and win in Arizona.
Elessar Zappa
(13,964 posts)Its a purple state trending blue. A mainstream Democrat can win there.
Mr.Bill
(24,282 posts)will come up for election someday. We need to focus very hard on taking other seats away from the republicans.

(3,282 posts)Every seat is sacred.
Mr.Bill
(24,282 posts)But every Senator is not. Especially when they are trying to obstruct everything the Democratic President is trying to do. Actually they are a danger to the re-election possibilities for the President.

(3,282 posts)with a democrat. So, you're begging for another Josh Hawley to join the Senate.
If any democrats are a "threat" to Joe Biden's reelection it's the ones who were endorsing Bernie a year ago.

(67,782 posts)...term. John Kyl was first appointed to replace him but he only kept it for a short time, then Marth McSally was appointed until the special election in 2020. She was horrible, even by Arizona republican standards.
Thankfully, now that he's an incumbent he'll win re-election. But I doubt any other Arizona Democrat would win.

(12,582 posts)The QGOP's attitude -- so clearly stated in this presentation -- is the Constitution was written so the majority cannot do anything to effect the will of the people, which in 2020 by the overwhelming response at the election polls, and now, when a majority of voters of both parties support Biden's plans. The Repugs are committed to getting their way, no matter which party is in the majority.
And they are ruthless. And cruel. And soulless.
The bastards are willing to throw the entire democratic system under the bus so they can have the power to jam their programs down the majority's throats. We have got to keep the House and Senate Democratic at the mid-terms.
His thank you to Manchin and Sinema should be played in Arizona and W. Virginia every day until they bend on the filibuster. Show their constituents exactly what their Senator's intransigence is costing the people they claim to represent. Make it clear in terms of dollars kept out of their pockets because S&M because won't bend on the filibuster issue. Make it hurt them.
KPN
(15,642 posts)waking up to it because Dems were focusing on legislating and governing while Rs were focusing on the permanent majority regardless of how that majority was formed, including being an actual minority when it came to potential or even actual votes cast. In other words, we were fixed in policy and governing while they were fixed on scheming and ruling.

(3,389 posts)both of them.
"If you call their office be polite, use a voice like this..."...I would be very angry about it, it is a fantastic show of hypocrisy and disregard for the two of them, they are telling them what nice tools they are for the republican party.
And at the end the guy says "...thank you for being a patriot." then tells the audience "because without the filibuster the republican party is toast." This is amazing! They are belittle them both...With that he understands that their vote has nothing to do with patriotism, it is just a convenient tool for republicans, nothing more.
Someone send this to both of them...
