Jacob Kornbluh
Former President Donald Trump resented that Benjamin Netanyahu, the former Israeli prime minister he had forged a close relationship with, congratulated Joe Biden upon his electoral victory, according to a new book by journalist Michael Wolff.
It was startling to aides, however much they were anticipating an eruption, that Trumps wrath fell on Bibi Netanyahu, Wolff writes in his third book on the Trump presidency, titled Landslide: The Final Days of the Trump Presidency, a copy of which was obtained by the Forward.
On November 7, hours after the media called the election for Biden, Netanyahu tweeted his congratulations to Biden, saying hes looking forward to working with him to further strengthen the special alliance between the U.S. and Israel. At the time, Trump refused to accept defeat, later encouraged those who took part in the January 6 insurrection at the Capitol and continues to challenge the integrity of the election. A week later Netanyahu also placed a congratulatory call to Biden.
According to Wolff, Trump told his aides that the tweet came before the ink was dry and was an ultimate betrayal.

(6,853 posts)He never understood that he could be useful to them and once he outlived his usefulness, he was dead to them.
And he never understood how relations between leaders worked.

(63,221 posts)He would always say that about other world leaders that he had only met once or twice. What an ass!

(115,674 posts)however trivial, about his enemies (he doesn't have adversaries; he only has enemies). Anyone who does that, regardless of a previous friendly relationship, goes right under the bus.

(64,995 posts)And his misery elates me.
Remember, it's all self-inflicted. No sympathy.

(8,445 posts)He's been a horrid monster his entire adult life, and it got SO much worse when he became President. Lives were lost. Lives were ruined. So, yeah, no sympathy.

(63,221 posts)But I am honestly overjoyed whenever I hear that he is miserable. It makes my day. I hate him so much that I just revel in his pain and misfortune.
He did this to me. I was never like this before.

(66,316 posts)I don't think he's had one moment of pure, serene joy in his life. People who boil life down to winners and losers, and make the acquisition of money and power their whole aim in life are always unhappy, because there's always someone with more of either or both.
He's not even happy during his Nurnberg rallies. They're an unbroken litany of complaints, grievance, and bitterness.
He's a loveless person. And IMO, loveless people can never know true happiness.

(115,674 posts)His life must suck. Here's a guy who who seems to have no joy in his life. His only pleasure, if you can even call it that, comes from putting down anyone who opposes him, which his father apparently taught him is winning - and losing is completely unthinkable. He doesn't seem to enjoy music or art; he doesn't go to plays or concerts; he doesn't appreciate nature; he doesn't even like pets; he doesn't read anything but news items about himself; he has no real friends, just toadies and hangers-on; his wife doesn't seem to especially like him and all of his wives have been nothing but arm-candy for him (and he cheated on all of them); his relationships with his oldest children are weird, to say the least, and he seems to have none at all with the youngest; he has no hobbies other than golf, at which he cheats because he always has to win; and he's so absurdly vain that he is said to need two hours to do his hair and makeup.
Everything is superficial. He has to have the biggest, the best, the most expensive, the most ostentatious because he needs everyone to know that he's rich. His NYC apartment looks like Versailles redecorated by Saddam Hussein's pimp. He spends every waking hour fretting about the possibility that someone else might be richer, more powerful, more appreciated, more valued, and it drives him crazy. I can't imagine a more miserable existence. But in the process of trying to fill the bottomless black hole of his ego he is causing immeasurable damage, even killing people. So, yes, he's a sad, wretched specimen, but I can't bring myself to feel sorry for him except maybe in the Buddhist sense of compassion for all sentient beings.

(7,947 posts)He still doesn't understand-- or care-- that the president represents the nation.
Remember when he kept saying he and the filthy dictator Kim were "in love"?
I don't know how ANYONE could vote for him after that.
