The truth is, I think he is just a sad, pathetic loser, and I don't mean that in a cruel way. I mean, he really is a sad person. And I feel like it is all his father's fault. I actually have a little bit of pity for him because i really think he is suffering and I don't think he is strong enough or has enough support around him to find a way out of his pain and addiction. So that is really sad. I honestly wish he would get some help.

Who are in recovery and spent considerable time learning about their problem.

Another group of people, professionals who work with addicts (but who may not be addicts themselves) also tend to understand addiction FAIRLY well, but I wouldn't say 'totally'.

TFGJr OTOH 'totally understands' sweet fuck all.

Other than maybe grifting and manipulating stupid people. Traits that appear to run in the family.

Even if he IS an addict (very unlikely IMHO) or alcoholic (MUCH more likely, and really this particular distinction is pretty meaningless anyway), I guarantee you have doesn't really understand it for shit.
