(21,526 posts)the Biden admin knows who the most dangerous people in the country are, and our intelligence services are going to be all over their terrorist chatter. not like what happened under drumpf when right wing terrorist activities were ramping ump and they, of course, said black persons were the biggest threat to the country.

(2,705 posts)He said he was taking time off because rage was getting the best of him and he'd misbehaved. (At least that's how I remember it.) I chose not to look up the accusations against him at the time. I believed him about the rage.
I was glad when he started back on Twitter. He's a powerful advocate for fighting for our democracy and articulate and persuasive in his warnings.
Not sure but that is probably why he isn't on MSNBC now. I miss hearing him.

His voice is invaluable and we need to hear more from him.

(16,265 posts)I suspect that the few who have not lost their minds may be too afraid of the others to do much more than cower in a corner.

That there are members of US and local law enforcement, and various military and ex-military sympathizers and participants involved, gives me doubts that everyone we need to worry about is being watched. The coordination between the RAGA group members and others less visible who anticipate more conflict is likewise a point of concern.
I fear we a a long time yet from having the kind of security from American ISIS attacks we have expected.

(24,228 posts)have by now infiltrated these domestic terrorist organizations. As they proved on 1/6, the terrorists are bumbling idiots when it comes to the technology of tracking them.

I'm sure the FBI, DOJ, ATF, DHS, NSA and other agencies thank them for the info and are actively tracking them on social media, cell phone towers, vehicle tracking and with other physical surveillance techniques.
Mr.Bill
(24,228 posts)are operating some of those websites. Why wouldn't they?

(7,868 posts)What I am also aware of is that the entire wind-up to Jan 6 was organized out of sight. The actors who showed up were motivated if inept and coordinated if not precisely organized.
A 9-11 style attack does not require the same degree of deception or diffuse approach. As the Oklahoma City bombing showed it doesn't take all that much to produce a severely damaging result when you want to destroy something. Nashville was the same.
We do not know how many of those who burrow through Maga-land have better skills or more motivation than the ones who showed up in DC. The danger of the people who might do these things is that they believe we are already in a war and are committed to winning their version of it by damaging or destroying significant infrastructure, along with lives and communities. They aren't going to show restraint, and they may have better leadership this time.
The people who have enabled this situation are likewise motivated and believe in a bizarre vision of America and the world which entitles them to decide who lives and who doesn't. They are an American ISIS in the most literal sense although they do not see themselves as such. They have been preparing for decades to do what we may yet see.
We are not dealing with a few groups of disparate, dysfunctional warrior wannabes who may be capable of local action but have no command and control to coordinate them to more dangerous results than the very near miss in DC. They will not be trying to take over a group of people in a meeting and hold them hostage. This time they will more likely be trying for death and destruction. That is the message being heard by the listeners.
As we've heard about terrorists it only takes a few in the right place...
It doesn't wear that all of them are under surveillance any more than it did that TLG is now harmless because he's not inside government. The disturbing vision and the emotions he enabled in others have not gone nor are they likely to dissipate as long as the GOP keeps feeding them. The GOP will do so as long as their owners and sponsors with the will and the money keep telling them to do it.
They are the people who we really need to stop. Any approach short of that will not eliminate the threat. It will only delay it.

(53,410 posts)or linched, depending on the color of their skin. I have a very strong feeling that as a country were becoming more divided every day and we also know there are crazy people working themselves into just the kind of rage that leads to deadly encounters. Its creeping up on us because no one will stop the rage machines to just appease one man. They double down on the hate, and its growing. The hate, that is.

These guys don't necessarily present as radicals. They're more subtle than that.
And pretty much anyone in America can arm up big time and below the radar.

I heard the The Bulwark podcast, that our intelligence and federal law enforcement has briefed Fox News, nothing has change. Just heard it on here, unsure if that info is anywhere else.
