Mesa County has the most delta variant cases of any county in Colorado — making it a hotspot within a hotspot.

That didn't stop thousands of people from flocking to the area for a music festival.

With Delta Variant Surging In Colorado, A Country Music Festival Goes On
The CDC sent in a team to investigate a delta variant hotspot in Mesa County, Colo. That didn't stop tens of thousands of people from flocking to the state's largest country music festival.

Dr. Rachel LaCount grasped a metal hoop at a playground and spun in circles with her 7-year-old son, turning the distant mesas of the Colorado National Monument into a red-tinged blur.

LaCount has lived in Grand Junction, Colo., a city of 64,000, nearly her whole life. As a hospital pathologist, she knows better than most that her hometown has become one of the nation's top breeding grounds for the delta variant of COVID-19.

"The delta variant's super scary," LaCount said.

That highly transmissible variant, first detected in India, is now the dominant COVID-19 strain in the United States. Colorado is among the top states with the highest proportion of the delta variant, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Mesa County has the most delta variant cases of any county in Colorado, state health officials report, making the area a hot spot within a hot spot. A CDC team and the state's epidemiologist traveled to Grand Junction to investigate how and why cases of the variant were moving so quickly in Mesa County.

the Pride Parade and ComicCon for a second year. No one that I know of is complaining about it. Grow up people! I taught 6 years old and they thought before they acted and if they didn't there were consequences. Getting Covid at a crowded music festival is definitely a consequence but they don't seem to give a shit about other people's health, and rarely even their own. That is the GQP's philosophy in a NUTshell.

And these covidiot mask holes will expect doctors & nurses to risk their lives treating them when they get sick?

Fired up yesterday, runs through Sunday.

Maybe it's because I haven't kept up with country music, but I only recognized 4, maybe 5 acts out of the ones they posted on website. (20-25?) Probably more but don't care enough to look.

Dayton Air Show in Vandalia, Oh. Starts tomorrow, ends Sunday.

At least there's probably a better chance at keeping distance from the idiots.

Montgomery County Fair, Dayton, OH. Starts July 11, ends Sunday 17th.

3 potential super spreaders within 30-45 minutes from my house in Darke County.

Looks like the country is going to be spending the holidays after Labor Day possibly in the hospital sick, visiting the sick, or burying the dead.

I'm still in nursing home but am getting out late this month or early this month. Especially with the cavalier attitude that the staff& residents have whenever I mention anything about the virus or it's mutations.

I was headed to OT therapy yesterday and the doctor passed me in hall, patted me on shoulder, I turned to say hi and he didn't have mask on and neither did about half of the people in the hall. Maybe half the aides had masks on correctly. Nurses(3) at station were good.

My therapist knows to wear one around me. Especially since she just got back from vacation in Tennessee. Yes, they went to tourist traps since their relatives live close to them.

Well, it's late. I'm going to try and sleep.

Oh yeah, how could I forget. 3 people died in last 4 days& 2 more are on edge.

I know that 2 of them went because of cancer& 1 of the other 3 is just old.

I don't see any signs that say area closed, so maybe that's a good sign.

Ok. Take care everyone.
