Madison Cawthorn said offering vaccines door-to-door could lead to the government confiscating guns

Rep. Madison Cawthorn said President Joe Biden's call to offer COVID-19 vaccines door-to-door could lead to the government taking people's guns and bibles.

Cawthorn, a Republican from North Carolina, was speaking Friday during an interview at the Conservative Political Action Conference event in Dallas, Texas, taking place this weekend. He was speaking with Right Side Broadcasting Network, a conservative media outlet.

"And now they're sort of talking about going door-to-door to be able to take vaccines to the people. The thing about the mechanisms they would have to build to be able to actually execute that massive of a thing," Cawthorn said, in reference to Biden's latest community-based vaccine push.

"Think about what those mechanisms could be used for. They could then go door-to-door to take your guns. They could go door-to-door to take your bibles," Cawthorn said.

Another Republican who takes the question "How stupid can you get?" as a challenge.

Someone will shoot at medical staff making rounds on their booked appointments, then their guns will be taken for attempted murder or murder. I highly doubt they just show up at houses and hope the person is home. They definitely should not do that now with this becoming a talking point.

I feel like Andy Rooney, sometimes. But did you ever notice that when a Republican says such patently stupid things as young Madison here has, other Republicans and conservatives never tell him to dial it back? They never admonish their own for saying dumb-as-fuck stuff that could hurt their credibility or make them look bad?

If only there were already a mechanism in place to go door to door, to deliver information to people, even if they lived with other people with different names, at their actual places of residence, if there were some kind of numbering system to facilitate, oh, I dunno, the postal service?

Pretty sure he gets mail at his $425K home on North Rugby Road reminding him to pay his overdue county property taxes every month....

He is what homeschooling is all about. Word slaw made up of Right wing bogeymen. Way to knock down that straw man that's already been burned to the ground.

He is dumber than a box of used hair. The local GOPers want him GONE.

Is he really telling us to "imagine the mechanism they would have to build" to visit people in this country door to door? Has he ever heard of the fucking census?

ruled him out already. When someone runs their stupid gutter mouth nonstop, with idiotic and potentially threatening statements such as this one, this is serious, irresponsible nonsense.

"Good day, Mr or Ms Occupant! I'm from the government and I'm here to give you your vaccination. But first, you have to give me all your guns. You don't have any? How about your bibles? Don't have any of those either? Well, no vaccine for you! "

Or just trying to scare the people for their vote? There should be some standard to strive for as his remarks are so outrageous but who is challenging him?

Most brainwashing starts with self treatment. If he stays in Congress for a few more years, he'll start to get more country club Republican, more cynical, and more lazy about manipulating his boneheaded fan club among the hoi polloi
