1. England with immigration made it possible...

More than half of Gareth Southgate's 26-man squad have at least one parent or grandparent born outside of the UK, according to the Migration Museum.

And if England win tomorrow, you'll hear about it for the next 55yrs...

Last time they won was in 1966....I will be watching the game at a British pub, surrounded no doubt by progressively drunk Brits...

Out of the 11 players who started for England in their thrilling semi-final victory over Denmark on Wednesday, a total of seven have a parent or grandparent from overseas.

Raheem Sterling (Jamaica)

Sterling has been one of England's most potent attacking threats in this tournament, scoring important goals against Germany, Czech Republic and Croatia

Bukayo Saka (Nigeria)

Saka earned himself a starting place in the team who faced Denmark after a string of impressive performances in the tournament.

His fearlessness in possession and his ability to make things happen mean he helped create goals against both Denmark and Czech Republic

The 19-year-old from London could have chosen to play for Nigeria because both his parents are from there.

Kyle Walker (Jamaica)

Walker was born in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, to a British mother and a Jamaican father.

He therefore joins Sterling and Phillips in the list of England players who could have played for the Caribbean nation.

Harry Kane (Republic of Ireland)

Kane has been leading the line for England in this tournament and is our top scorer - the highlight being his all-important goal against Denmark.

However, Kane's father hails from County Galway - meaning the striker could have played for the Republic of Ireland if he had wanted to.

Kalvin Phillips (Jamaica/Republic of Ireland)

Defensive midfielder Phillips has been a mainstay in Southgate's side throughout this tournament and got better and better as England's semi-final against Denmark went on.

The 25-year-old is of Jamaican descent through his father and Irish descent through his mother - meaning he could have played for either of those two nations.

Marcus Rashford, an attacker and food poverty campaigner, is another England player with Caribbean roots - as his grandmother was born on the island of Saint Kitts.

Declan Rice (Republic of Ireland)

Phillips' fellow defensive midfielder Rice represented the Republic of Ireland at under-16, under-19 and under-21 level. He also earned three full caps for the senior side.

Rice was born in Kingston-upon-Thames in Greater London but qualified to play for Ireland through his paternal grandparents.

Harry Maguire (Northern Ireland/Republic of Ireland)

Maguire has been solid at the back for England and was among the goals during their 4 - 0 demolition of Ukraine.

However, things could have been very different as Maguire was eligible to play for Northern Ireland the Republic of Ireland through his grandparents

"St. George was born in the Lebanon
How he got here, I don't know.
And those three lions on your shirt
They never sprung from England's dirt.
Them lions are half English.
And I'm half English too."

2. Surprisingly I find myself pulling for England. I normally don't.

I’m a fan of the French team. Only because I’ve been there 6 times and my grandmother was a Louisiana Acadian whose first language was French. And I speak a little. Very silly, I know.

And England are normally a team of assholes. But this team is different.

Sterling has been very vocal on racial issues in England. And his teammates and coach are very supportive. And when younger Sterling payed a price. But now that he and Kane are doing the striking no one dare criticize him.

England has not won a Major since 1966. If they bring it home Sterling will be a god to them. Some of the goals he has scored have been amazing.

Unfortunately, I will be working. But defying my normal policy of not even looking at my personal phone, tomorrow I will be checking.

I’m relatively recent fan of world football. Maybe 5 years. Got really interested when Orlando City joined the MLS. And Iceland beating England was huge. And don’t sleep on the Lion. They could win the MLS title this year as long as they don’t sell some of their players to Europe. Which sounds crazy. European clubs wanting American players.

Thanks for the post.

Have a nice evening.

It will be my first foray in public in a social setting

I'm double vacc'd, and will be around folks with status unknown...I am still uneasy, it's an open air location

I might stay home, and see if I can stream ESPN on my Ipad

But I am super stoked..

It's Coming Home...folks

Or watch it in a group setting?

Either way, I’d go unless over 60 and in poor health.

If fully vacced you will be safe. Like you said, it’s outside.

But Italy is playing well. Should be a hard fought match. I think England has superior technique and will win. They certainly leave it all on the pitch.
