(54,005 posts)Can't see how any actions of a partisan group (that's clearly already being poorly managed) can have any legal force of law unless it's an open process.

(33,140 posts)Hardly a quorum.
The damage to the AZ GOP is only beginning. The GOP in AZ is already more of a coallition ranging from the barking mad to the more moderate Romneyites. I'm thinking there are many more of the latter. They make much less noise, except at the polls.
The second law of Trump kicked in on this thing long ago. Anything he touches turns to crap. This whole shit show was at his misdirection from day one.

(57,081 posts)... It took more than "TWO" members of the Senate to do this.

(33,140 posts)Several AZ refugees I know who've shown up on my doorstep (why do they always come to me? ) have told me the political structure of AZ has been broken for decades.
SoS Hobbs is the only one speaking out in the media. I agree what they did to her took the whole Senate!
Maybe something is being done, somewhere. We sure aren't privy to it.
Where's the outrage at the national level? Hello, DoJ?

(38,556 posts)but yeah, since tax payers are on the hook for at least a portion of the fraudit, then yeah, observers should be allowed on the floor.
No one (beyond the bat-sh*t crazies) takes this seriously, and if they were to try to use it in courtroom to do something underhanded, it would be thrown out.
The big worry is the PR show. It was billed as an audit to shed light. They can't say that any more. When they exclude observers, they're not shedding light on anything.

(57,081 posts)... the fact is, the longer the farce goes on, the more irrelevant it becomes. You notice, the longer it goes, the less enthusiastic about it they are?
After all the noise about doing this all over the country, nowhere else has done it. Even the mainstream GOP is awfully quiet about this.
When the Republican Party splits up, who gets custody of "GOP"?

(36,463 posts)Good question.
Bernie Sanders was right back in 2015 when he said that there are only two ways to the White House and one is through the Democratic Party and the other is through the Republican Party. That is true of most Congressional and State seats as well. No other parties have the infrastructure these two have. It's going to be interesting to see who takes ownership of the republican infrastructure. It's not looking good for the moderates, who are already fleeing their party. I only hope they don't join our party and take us further to the right.

Arizona Republicans have stripped the secretary of state's office currently held by a Democrat of the right to defend the state's election laws in court, or choose not to, a change enacted as part of Arizona's newly signed budget.
The spending blueprint that Gov. Doug Ducey signed into law Wednesday declares that the attorney general currently a position occupied by Republican Mark Brnovich has sole authority over election-related litigation.
If the secretary of state and attorney general were to disagree over a legal strategy when Arizona election laws are challenged, the new law states that "the authority of the attorney general to defend the law is paramount."
Republicans also adopted language stating it's their intent for the law to apply through Jan. 2, 2023, coinciding with the end of Democrat Katie Hobbs' term as secretary of state.

(21,337 posts)our DOJ sent to the Cyber Ninjas didn't stop them from violating federal election laws. Where oh where is our DOJ?

(10,147 posts)Is DOJ still acting as Trump's personal lawyer? Maybe Garland doesn't want to rock the boat.
CrispyQ
(36,463 posts)there's nothing the DOJ can do. It seems our side can never do anything, yet the other side rams through their agenda.
New voters tend to be fickle. We're gonna have to GOTV like our government depends on it to get them back to the polls in 22 & 24 if the dems don't go bold & people don't see some justice. And the right will be fired up on hate & misinformation, & ready to vote. If we lose the House or the Senate, Biden will get NOTHING done for two years & may even face impeachment. That's how fucking broken this country is.
DiFi's recent comment that she doesn't see democracy in danger is demoralizing for people who risked their well-being, even their lives, to stand in long lines to vote dems in charge. Where is our Lyndon B. Johnson who can strong arm folks like Manchin & Sinema, & the other senators hiding behind them, who keep the filibuster in place? Chuck Schumer doesn't seem to be that guy. WTF, dems? It's only our country, right?

(21,337 posts)Cyber Ninjas violated Title 52 - Voting and Elections - Subtitle I and II.
Ballots, voting systems and other election materials are no longer in the custody of election officials.
The excuse before was that we had no head of the Civil rights division of DOJ, we have had a head for some time now, Kristen Clarke, a really sharp cookie.
CrispyQ
(36,463 posts)So why haven't they done anything yet? The "strongly worded letter" is becoming an unflattering but perhaps accurate democratic meme. Is the DiFi view the view of party leadership?

(3,471 posts)If they report that they found massive fraud, Dominion's lawyers will eat them alive.
If they report that they found bupkis, the Trumpanzees will eat them alive.

the stupid ass cyber ninjas are making bank along with countless others. The longer they drag this out the more money they make.
This never had anything to do with finding the truth, as the asshole nuts and fascists want you to believe, this has always been about money.
Just like with the scam border wall, its just a money grab
And I wouldnt be the least bit surprised if there was also some sort of money laundering going on as well

(23,226 posts)You are spot on--it's all about raking in as much moola as they can.
Whatever "report" they make will be as worthless as a confederate $3 bill.

(1,668 posts)Their fraud. The way this "audit" has been handled has almost certainly destroyed evidence of fraud, and in any case the evidence has been so mishandled that it wouldn't be allowed in court.
What better way to protect yourself than to destroy the evidence via "investigations."
So I'm willing to take them at their word, there was massive fraud. We'll never be able to do anything about it because a criminal organization was allowed to destroy the evidence.
gab13by13
(21,337 posts)The GQP is good at projection, when they do wrong they project that wrong onto Democrats. Maybe those Dominion voting machines were the only honest machines? Maybe we should take an audit of ES&S voting machines in Maine, Kentucky, and Florida where there were anomalies?

(9,247 posts)So, the 3 previous recounts performed properly (and confirming the Biden win) will remain the official result. That was never going to change.
But maybe they have copied the voter rolls or figured out ways to screw up future elections. Honestly, I'm concerned about what they have learned about how elections are conducted and perhaps have found weaknesses to exploit later.
What happened to/with the ballots in Montana? What were they doing?
