Booster Update
Former FDA commissioner Dr. Scott Gottlieb, who is currently on the board of Pfizer, was asked about the company's request for emergency authorization for booster shots during his appearance on 'Face the Nation'.
DR. GOTTLIEB: It was data coming out of Israel that suggests that people who were vaccinated a while ago, particularly older individuals, might be more vulnerable to the infection. So we see declining efficacy of the vaccine in Israel against the Delta variant.
He also broke the news that the UK will be providing booster shots to citizens of 70 years of age and older, then start ratcheting down the age groups.
And Israel will provide booster shots to those that are immunocompromised, or have immune disorders that would leave them more vulnerable.
Apparently this will happen here, but they don't want to publicly talk about it yet, as data indicates it causes people who are not yet vaccinated to be more reluctant to get vaccinated.
