Baca says deputy who struck woman in video may need retraining

he struck her hard!

Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca says the sheriff's deputy who was captured on video striking a woman on a Metro bus will be held accountable for his actions, but stopped short of saying he should be disciplined.

"If the individual deputy who swung an elbow at the lady is looking at that as a sensible solution, we need to retrain that individual," he told Ed Mertz of KNX-AM (1070) in an interview Wednesday.

In the video, a female deputy holds the woman from behind while her partner appears to deliver a sweeping blow to the left side of her face. It's unclear whether he strikes her with his fist or right forearm.

The man who recorded the video told NBC-TV Channel 4 that the woman was polite and friendly toward the other passengers as she boarded the bus. He said she started cursing at the deputies when they asked her to get off.

penalties are harsh and quick

But yes I saw that thread too. Makes me wonder if they wrote some sort of loophole into the laws to exempt law enforcement

And I don;t understand why he wasn't.

The woman was verbally abusive and resistant to leaving, but she wasn't violent or causing any threat, and that cop didn't just pop her one, which would have been bad enough. He UFC KOed her. I was shocked when I saw how he hit her, a right cross, all of his weight behind it.

She also is mentally challenged.

and he was intimidated by the officer. The man who filmed it just returned from six years in the service. The cop tried to get him to give up the video, and when the witness refused, the cop tried to intimidate him. Asked him if he had any warrants.

The cop needs to lose his job and be charged with assault.

Threatened the vet with warrants and told him he could arrest him if he didn't give him the video. Good thing the pig didn't get that evidence. Don't buses have camera's in them too. There may be more video somewhere else.

They are proving more and more that cops do this shit all the time; previously, they were never held accountable because no one was able to film them.
