Conservatives have collectively embraced an anti-vax position. Some of them are just morons, such as GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who last week implied that people can Crossfit the Covid away.

COVID-19 patients are overwhelming the ER at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri. Medical personnel are working extra shifts to keep up. It's July 2021, and these patients are all willingly unvaccinated. Many have died. They weren't all elderly or otherwise vulnerable. Dr. Howard Jarvis has treated patients in their 40s, 30s, even teenagers. Dr. Jarvis described a 50-year-old man who struggled to breathe and "couldn't stand up for more than 30 seconds from his illness."

None of these patients were vaccinated, which left them defenseless against the highly contagious delta variant of COVID-19. There were more than 100 COVID-19 hospitalizations at Cox last week. They briefly ran out of ventilators at Mercy Hospital Springfield over the Fourth of July weekend, a tragic demonstration of America First ideology. Last week's 129 hospitalizations at Mercy Springfield were greater than in December at the height of the pandemic. The doctors and nurses are frustrated and pissed off. They thought this was behind us.

Dr. Jarvis said:

"Early on, there was only so much you could do to prevent yourself from getting it. Now, it's a really conscious choice that 'I don't need to get a vaccination.' There's a different level of frustration because we're seeing something that we really don't have to be seeing."

Thirty-nine percent of Missouri residents are fully vaccinated, which is one of the lowest rates in the US. Springfield's Greene County is worse at 34 percent, according to state figures. The surrounding 19 counties are in the 20s. In McDonald County, in southwest Missouri, the rate is a pitiful 14 percent.

Those people are not part of my social circles or even consumers in stores or restaurants or events I would partake in or attend. I have ZERO contact with them, ZERO use for them and ZERO fucks to give if they all die.

In fact, I would like to encourage them to convene in LARGER numbers and for LONGER durations amongst themselves...I suggest having a day-long festival of "sticking it to Moostache" in Springfield with 2 caveats:

1) anyone attending MUST stay until they are exposed to the delta-variant of COVID-19
2) anyone attending MUST sign a waiver precluding them from receiving ANY medical care as they choke to death

They can have the biggest circle jerk in history down there, hang out and swap Trump stories like some guys had 'Nam stories to cope back in the 70's. They can start wearing gas masks that they breathe into like people taking secondary bong hits back in the day...

I am finished with them.
I will not socialize with them, nor allow them near me physically.
I will not allow them into my home, or onto my property.
I will not mourn them and I will no longer even try to convince them to save themselves.

I will watch in detached amusement as they die in higher and higher numbers, and I am going to put it out there right now - I hope the last thought to go through their addled brain is "damn, I really owned that Moostache guy".

I am willing to take the slings and arrows of their misfortune, in fact, I welcome it!

Even though there are plenty of examples of healthy, fit people being taken down by Covid, sure, in general a healthy, fit younger person has a better chance for a good outcome than an older person with chronic health conditions. But who does Ms. Greene think the average Republican voter is? A crowd shot taken at any Trump rally or CPAC gathering will show a large number of people whose Crossfit journey to fitness would take months or years—and they’re probably going to encounter Covid in a matter of days.

If only there were something they could wear to protect themselves! If only there were a shot they could get to really protect theselves!
