But even threatening a Census worker is illegal and will get you a visit from the police.

If you can't tell, I've been a Census worker. They did tell us not to put ourselves in any danger and use common sense, but to report places we could not gain access to. Supervisors handled it from there. I don't know what they did.

I suggested that would be good if he could get office, tabulation type work. He’s in an area that went close to 80% for trump. He could probably pull it off by appearance and demeanor, but why chance it’s with these MFers?

I will be 68 in a few weeks. It is a very physically demanding job. We were actually doing pre-Census mapping work that required knocking on every door in an area. Lots of hills here, and lots of steps to get to doors. I was probably walking 5-10 miles a day. I was between jobs and thought it would be a good way to get in shape. It was.

No way would I try to do it now. Also, you better be prepared for some confrontations with some big dogs. I know a bit about dog training, so I did okay, but I had to back pit bulls away from me a number of times. The Census doesn't allow you to carry pepper spray or any other defensive weapons.

drive signs at my registration station inside places with a lot of foot traffic was to let people that wanted nothing to do with it see what I was up to. They would give me a wide berth and avoid eye contact. I would usually talk to anyone coming close that looked interested. Sometimes it would just be someone wondering what I was doing if my signs weren't clearly visible all around. No need wasting time on someone that will not donate.
