...gave her dominion over the lawA Pennsylvania woman who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 has filed court documents claiming she is immune from earthly laws thanks to her faith in Jesus Christ, the Daily Beast reports.
Pauline Bauer, who allegedly told a Capitol police officer during the riot to bring Nancy Pelosi out here now we want to hang that f***ing b*tch, is charged with multiple counts of violent entry, disruptive conduct, and obstruction of Congress. According to the Beasts report, Bauer demanded to act as her own lawyer and seemingly threatened a court clerk with prison time, and declared herself a self-governed individual with special legal privileges.
I am here by special divine appearance, a living soul, she told a judge on June 11.
I do not stand under the law, she said. Under Genesis 1, God gave man dominion over the law.
She's going to find out that her 'God' is a judge and 12 of her peers. Good luck in jail, dumb ass.

Let's just hope that aren't any Trump appointed judges who will buy any of this zealot's nonsense.

(21,998 posts)I no longer believe in Christianity but I did actively attend church for over 40 years. Inside those sacred walls, I never heard anyone say, "...bring (her) out here now... we want to hang that fucking bitch!"
Nice language for someone who claims to be a Christian.
More importantly, there's a Commandment that says, "Thou shalt not kill." Yet Bauer wanted to hang an elected official. She's something special!
Bauer is either going to prison or to a mental health facility.

They no doubt will have enough problems in their lives without having to deal with all these Trumpanzees while in treatment.

(3,378 posts)She most probably hopes that going to a mental institution that she can be let out sooner, one she proves she is not insane.
I hope the judge doesn't buy any of this bull, she belongs in jail for attempted murder.

(36,669 posts)A guy in England successfully used the insanity defense. He spent more time in the mental institution than he would have in prison. Said it was much more difficult to prove yourself sane than insane.

(36,669 posts)Law & Order had a show about that.
At the end of the show he realized that he had placed himself in with genuinely insane people.

(802 posts)All she has to do is have God bring his immortal butt into the courtroom and testify on her behalf. Should that happen then even I, an atheist of 45 years, will support acquittal. Barring that unlikely event, throw the book at her self-righteous ass.

(19,187 posts)and be made to testify. Let's clear this up right now. They're called down on republicans' side in most arguments, so it's time to put up or shut up.
They must testify, or never be allowed as admissible evidence in anyone's side of an argument from here on out.

(11,949 posts)Plenty of totally sane people believe stupid shit.
Saying the earth is 6-7K years old is not much crazier than what she is claiming. Yet 20% of Americans believe just that.
Wonton ignorance and faith in the unprovable is not insane. But common.
Im sure plenty of people on DU believe in ghosts or spirits or something. That not insane. To me it is belief in something totally unscientific. Now, if those who belief in ghost or spirits for some crazy reason thought those spirits led them to try to overthrow the government and hang the speaker they would not have an insanity defense.
Im a free thinker. Most Americans, including a large majority of democrats arent, they are religious and Im cool with that. But to me most Americans believe unbelievable ideas.
