(19,193 posts)her doctor told her so. I believe she had to produce a negative COVID test, taken no longer than three days before departure, in order to board the ship.
This really is a shame. The rest of the vaccinated passengers will be without her sparkling personality for the cruise now. What a pity.

(33,120 posts)She has all the antibodies.
Do they still have planks to walk?
SergeStorms
(19,193 posts)they have gang planks, which are covered walkways reaching from the pier to the main deck of the ship. They could throw her off of that and it would have the very same effect as walking the plank. So yeah, I think they should give it a go.

(63,901 posts)stop in little towns where all the Dutch masters painted. The trip was low on amenities but served our hunger for "being where the artists were" when they painted and the atmosphere and weather they must have seen and how much it affected what they painted. Think of Vermeer.
Road Scholar does these excursions and possibly they've been able to revive them now that Covid is under control. They might require proof of vaccinations card, which I have.
brush
(53,764 posts)And stopping at the towns along the way must have been great. I went to Europe years ago as a student, had a Eurail Pass and stay at hostels. I was an art student and made sure to see the Rijks Museum in Amsterdam (Rembrant's work), and even took the train up to Haarlem to see Frans Hals museum. I love Hals' work, the exquisite brush work, even his subject matter.
But back to the river cruise, how would you rank it to a traditional cruise on the high seas?
CTyankee
(63,901 posts)watch floor shows. But I can't judge people who do. They might be bored stiff by the kind of cruise I took since that clearly was not what they would expect.
A traditional cruise on the high seas might just be the perfect getaway for some folks. Their idea of fun and relaxation is just different from mine.

(15,082 posts)It was lovely. Smaller boat (900 passengers and 450 crew/staff), no fancy dress up for dinner, no casino, adults only.
We went from Bergen, Norway through several stops in the Baltic Sea (including St. Petersburg and the Hermitage) and ended up in Stockholm, Sweden. 15 days total.
There were some very interesting lectures on history and culture, a few musical shows but no fancy-schmancy stuff. Wonderful food and the ship never felt crowded. Lots of spots to relax and read. Met some fun people.
We are hoping to take a Viking river cruise at some point.
Cruises aren't for everyone, but it's a nice way to see several different cities/countries without having to unpack. It can give you a taste of places you might want to go back to for a longer stay. Plus, my husband is 70 and has some mobility problems and until he can get his hip replaced, we are better off on a cruise.

(1,332 posts)While I've been to Europe and the Uk a few times in my younger days, I've never done a river
cruise and my husband and I were looking forward to one in Germany, maybe ending up in
Amsterdam. Then Covid hit. So we're just waiting. Hoping for spring of 2022. I've heard that Viking has a lot of Americans on it and I want other people from other countries. Maybe Uniworld or
Avalon. Or Road Scholar. My cousin, who has done a lot of river cruises, swears my one and I can't remember the name of the I think the first word begins with a C and then Cruise. Crystal Cruises?
I'll have to ask her. We don't have to have a lot luxury, but want to be able to spend as much time in a port as possible. Years ago I took a cruise through some Greek Islands and it was kind of again to have to wait for the tender all the time if the dock was too small. Doesn't seem to be a problem with a river cruise, they all seem to tie right uptown a dock.

(19,038 posts)She claims she had Covid months ago, but she tested positive again. They're treating her like she has Covid, because she tested positive for Covid and tried to remain on the ship.
Now people can remain positive for many weeks or even months after getting Covid, but more likely she's just lying about having had Covid before.

Also she'd have to give up the scapegoats the gop points out to her for her to abuse.

(2,636 posts)Women are largely protected from myocardial infarcs until after menopause. Women also don't experience chest pain or chest tightness when they are having heart attacks. Back pain. We get sharp back pain right between the shoulder blades.
I've had two heart attacks:both spontaneous dissections, one at 23, and one at 50. (I'm the cohort of young women the CDC interviewed post MI which added heart attack warnings to birth control). I have an icd/pacemaker to prevent "life threatening v-fib" and "sudden acute cardiac death." My Implanted defibrillator went of six times in six minutes in January, by mistake, due to stress related a-fib.
She can't summon blood clots to block her coronary arteries. At worst, she hyperventilates and stresses herself into a-fib. She's full of reconstituted bovine waste. That private cruise line has every right to refuse service to her. They were very clear about proof of vaccine.
Why do they all sound the same, and look the same, and tick off all the same boxes?
Archetypist

(2,636 posts)However, you really should have your heart attacks when you're young and healthy....
Arazi
(6,829 posts)Radiating down her left arm with hot/cold sweats. She thought she couldn't be having a heart attack since women don't get chest pain or have heart attacks post-menopause. Wouldn't let us call the ambulance since she wasn't having "female" heart attack symptoms.
She had a heart attack.
Please be careful of the information you put out here
Claire Oh Nette
(2,636 posts)Women absolutely DO have heart attacks post menopausal. Whatever protection estrogen provides younger women, we lose that and have just as many heart attacks as men.
Everything I stated was fact. My point was that women can neither summon up blockages, nor do their symptoms mirror "stereotypical" symptoms of male heart attack.
I know as much if not more than my cardiologists, as my first MI helped uncover a largely female heart attack, S.C.A.D. 80% women, average age, 42. Only 90 cases in US when I had mine. After re-stenting me, the Chief of Cardiology at Stanford rewrote the gold standards on stenting.
Women do not typically have chest pain.
#1 indicator? shortness of breath.
The profuse sweating and chill cycle is also common in women's heart attacks.
I am careful wha ti put out there, but thanks.
