We have an anti-vaxxer in the extended family - and it is creating angst and chaos

Daughter's hubby is deeply part of the cult - won't get the vaccine even though his mom and dad are docs. My daughter got hers (she is blue, like us). He is of the "it will give me the mark of the devil" school. In discussions with both my daughter and my wife about this (who doesn't like family conflict and thinks it just should be ignored), it is clear that most folks do not understand the depth of the shit we are in. I try to explain that these folks are definitely in a cult of ignorance - that there really is likely no way of reaching them. And there are a LOT of them. Otherwise - how can the hubby say he loves his wife (our daughter), his parents, respect us - if in his cult brain we are all stupid/duped/damned? The pretzel logic that these folks have to believe is breathtaking.

become incapacitated, unless other legal arrangements have been made, he will make the decisions affecting her medical care and entire life 😟. She needs an intelligent person to trust, not this fool.

Refuses to get vaccinated because he claims to be immune to Covid, since he was exposed a number of times and never got it. I think he’s just too lazy to go to the nearby CVS. My daughter is an RN and she had Covid last year! We’re both frustrated. Thankfully he’s not really a Trumpie but in so many ways she could have done better. But there’s 3 little kids.

The vaccines were developed under the Trump Administration and that he and Melania got vaccinated very quickly. Maybe they’ll stop being so willfully ignorant.

And it's dangerous for those close to him as the new covid variant is spreading like crazy. Maybe appeal to him as to the health of his family.

They aren't worth the trouble. Facts and evidence mean nothing to them, so there's no basis for discussion. Worse still, they never shut up with their paranoid fantasies, propaganda, and ignorant bloviating. Occasionally, one will still leave a message on my voice mail...which gets deleted without a listen. If it's something important one of the sane family members will tell me.

It's tough, but it's all that makes sense to me.
