speakers on TV - Mondaire Jones and Joy Reid (on her show and Chris Hayes)v that Senatorial Dems are taking POC for granted in not pushing harder on voting rights and taking down the filibuster.
We need action NOW!

(15,325 posts)cough.. cough..
Remember whe Hayes ran the sensational Tara Reade story front & center every night for...well until she was proven to be lying.
Or Hunter Biden!! That one too...well until it was proven to be political hype as well.
Sure Chris Hayes... now it the messaging that the Senate DEMOCRATS have failed the Black people!! Take them for granted even!!
Give it up. That base is loyal to Joe Biden's Democrats.. (you seriously don't believe they're that gullible.)
Is it Hate on Rep Clyburn day yet?
Something.. something about being"stupid", ....
GTFOUTTA Here with that bs.

(33,643 posts)appreciation for.
Excepting the case wherein those 'Senatorial Dems' are named Manchin and Sinema.
And honestly IMHO, these RePuQ voting suppression bills are aimed at the entire Democratic constituency, not just POC.
I appreciate the metaphorical kick in the ass, don't get me wrong, but these GQP assholes are thinking bigger, and are out to disenfranchise more than just minorities.
Which is to say I'd receive such messages best if they were addressing the continuum of voters being victimized here. It's about suppressing the vote of POC's, and women, and young people, and elderly folks esp. those who are disabled.
We're all in this together

(15,325 posts)That is a Lie.
Why ever would a progressive be making a broadbrushed comment like this?
Which Senatorial Democrats are they accusing?
All?
Some?
A couple?
I believe a strong majority of Senate Democrats are well aware of their strength of Black voters & stand by the loyalty towards them.
The election was clear where Black Voters cast their loyalty.
They aren't a fickle base, easily swayed by populist promises.
The Black base would disagree with the casting of 'Senate Democrats' as taking them for granted.
Which Senate Democrats, specifically?
Because you & I both know the intent of such a broadbrushed statement.

(15,325 posts)I'm surprised MSNBC allows such a brother to brother influence in it's political narrative.
What's the word for that again?
Nepotism? Something of that nature.
Oh well, "Money & Media" baby !!$$$

(67,782 posts)...on Maddow's show. Once Olbermann got canned and he took over that prime slot I went away from MSNBC for a long time.
I can't believe he STILL has that time slot after almost 10 years. Is he the best they can come up with?
And then the revelation that he has a major conflict of interest with his brother and he doing political commentary with an obvious bias toward Luke's political, um, let's call it "connections".
No thanks.

(24,731 posts)and I appreciate it.
I also think there may be many in the Black community who feel likewise - taken for granted by the Dem party. Not the first time I've heard it!

Solid & loyal as always throughout history.
I guess they've now become a lucrative target.
"Senatorial Dems are taking POC for granted..." Gee, wonder who tf dragged up that meme.. 🙄. We sure do know why!
Maybe Nina will select a Southern State for her next primary target.

(18,402 posts)Passionate about voting rights, democracy, and the threat these face from state Republican legislatures, but realistic aboutor should I say, primarily disinterested inthe hurdles facing Washington Democrats in a 50-50 senate.
Then, Dick Durbin, in a long interview on a local public affairs television show, said, when asked about repeal of filibuster, that Manchin and Sinema were not the only Democratic senators opposed to going nuclear on the filibuster ... they are just the only ones who have made their positions public. There are significant others who have substantial reservations. He gives it little chance of happening. And he should know.

(18,402 posts)The Supreme Court is not looking favorable at this point, given their recent majority position on states ability to run elections ... though they could have gone further. Frankly, Democrats are not really fighting voter ID at this point.
I think the next step is massive outreach to voters, state by state, to educate them and tell them what they need to do to get their votes counted.

(16,105 posts)this is all just fine!
So states suppress the vote and change the election results to whatever they want them to be...why would anyone be worried about that.
(Sarcasm, obviously...Jeez, you'd think that they would, oh, I don't know, care?)

(32,703 posts)honestly, if Democrats don't fix this, I'm done. It's very simple: either you're complicit in the attempt of racist rethugs to "cancel" black voters or you're not. There is no middle ground here. Hiding behind the filibuster won't absolve manchin, sinema, etc from their complicity.
