Mayor of Miami on Bombing Cuba: 'That Option Is One That Has To Be Explored'

Miami mayor Francis Suarez appeared on Fox News Tuesday to offer suggestions on the United States should respond to the unrest in Cuba, where tens of thousands of protestors have risen up against the communist regime. Suarez told Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum he thinks military options should be on the table.

“It’s difficult for any elected official, Republican or Democrat, not to take the side of the Cuban people when they see images of people risking their lives, protesting in the streets,” he said.

Suarez then suggested using the U.S. military to assist the protestors:

What should be being contemplated right now is a coalition of potential military action in Cuba similar to what has happened in both administrations in both Republican and Democrat administrations. And Republican–with Bush in Panama, they deposed Noriega. And that country had peaceful democracy for decades. And you had interventions by a Democratic president taking out Osama bin laden in Pakistan. It’s a sovereign country where they took out a terrorist and saved probably thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of lives. And president Clinton in Kosovo intervening in a humanitarian issue with air strikes. So there have been many, many opportunities in the history of–

Cubans from Florida going to fight the Cuban government. Since most people that I know don’t have a problem with Cuba, I’m not supportive of the nation getting into another war. But if the Cuban Americans have that much of a problem, then it’s on them to fight and die.

Instead of focusing on schools, roads and taxes, candidates spend more time debating things like military interventions in Cuba, Venezuela and Haiti. Rubio and DeSantis will jump on this bandwagon before the week is out.

He was elected on November 7, 2017 with 86 percent of the vote. Suarez is the first Miami-born mayor. He is a registered Republican... Suarez is the son of former Miami Mayor and former Miami-Dade County Commissioner Xavier Suarez.
...
In 2018, Suarez voted against Republican nominee and later Governor of Florida Ron DeSantis in the 2018 Florida gubernatorial election and instead voted for his Democratic opponent Andrew Gillum for which he was criticized by fellow Republicans. Suarez did not vote for the Incumbent Republican Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election.
...
In July 2020, Suarez dedicated 39 police officers to enforce a Miami-wide mask-wearing ordinance

Suarez’s father...immigrated to Washington D.C. and was the first Cuban mayor of Miami. Suarez said that his father came to the United States in the 1960s and was the ninth of 14 children.
~
Suarez’s father described Cuba as an "idyllic" and "modern" place before Castro’s reign. Many of Suarez’s older relatives had been "imprisoned" under Castro.

GQP apparently runs a lot of propaganda there in Little Havana smearing Democrats as evil communists and socialists (like Castro).

island for the last fifty years. They aren't so much interested in liberating the Cuban people from communism, they're just out to make as much money as possible. Detailed plans have been drawn up, investment groups have been formed, the whole operation is ready to move at a moment's notice. It's no secret, that's all these "patriotas cubanos" have been talking about on Miami's Spanish language media for decades.

Aren't the people of Cuba hurting enough?

He wants to bomb them?
