https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/07/13/desantis-fauci-florida/Dont Fauci My Florida, read drink koozies and T-shirts that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantiss campaign team rolled out just as his state sees some of the highest coronavirus hospitalizations, new infections and deaths per capita in the country. Its the latest example of Republicans running on their opposition to virus-fueled shutdowns and mask mandates. A pandemic hero to some and villain to others, Fauci has become a high-profile target.
While the merchandise is focused on Florida before the 2022 gubernatorial race there, DeSantis is seen as a potential front-runner for the GOP presidential nomination in 2024. A key part of his pitch: He resisted public health experts calls for stricter measures against the spread of the coronavirus, spurring criticism on the left and praise from the right for keeping his states schools and economy comparatively open.
New coronavirus infection numbers plummeted in Florida after vaccinations became widely available, but they have ticked up in recent weeks. The state is reporting daily cases close to four times the national average 26 new infections per 100,000 residents, the second-highest number in the country. The states latest covid-19 death rate is almost double the national figure, and it ranks fourth for current hospitalizations.

(16,722 posts)May the fittest survive because THEY WERE vaccinated, took precautions, became informed on the dangers of this virus and its variants.
Culling the herd will happen and it will not be pretty.

These jackasses are so heavily overplaying their collective hand they are shutting down the interest of average Americans.
Remember, these "leaders" are trapped in the same bullshit, FauxNews, NewsMax, OAN, CPAC, propaganda bubble as their sycophantic followers. The population of that bubble is falling precipitously.

(23,061 posts)There's a rash of Covid infections at my husbands work - 19 - and it all came from the trumpist parts supply manager whose wife and 2 children got it and he was still was coming to work. People complained and he started wearing a mask, but that wasn't until day 2. He still was seeing customers and one of them found out and complained and HR finally made him leave work for 2 weeks and a negative test. Fuck head - I hope he gets the karma he deserves. His wife is in the hospital on a vent and the fucker STILL refuses to believe.
We, of course, have been fully vaccinated since March which was the first we could wrangle. So far everyone who's gotten it from the ass are also unvaccinated and only 54% of people in our county are fully vaccinated. FUCK!!!

(5,870 posts)They can kill themselves with COVID as far as I'm concerned. The problem, I know, is the collateral damage that will inevitably occur when health care workers and other people are exposed to these poisonous people. Fuck them.

(23,061 posts)Unfortunately, there are 1% of vacinnated people who are dying from this, vaccines aren't 100%. That's why masks & distancing are still needed and we won't go to any crowded place, period.the.end.
Problem is repugs want lots of people to sicken and die to use it against Biden, say he's the same as drumpf, less people to collect SS, more $$ for them to steal - win/win/win as far as they are concerned.

(5,870 posts)There are some people, not a great many, who have legitimate reasons for not getting vaccinated. I will have sympathy for them and their families. My post is directed towards the people who have no legitimate reason to not be vaccinated. For them I have no sympathy at all. I wont mourn them when they die, and if I know them, Ill have a hard time expressing sympathy to their families.
Of course I want to minimize the collateral damage these people will inflict on society, but for them I dont have any fucks to give.
