According to the press release, the main feature of the phone is that it includes: The FreedomOS App Store. An app store that is free from censorship. Parler, Gab, and any other appbanned or unbannedcan submit their app to our app store knowing that they are free from suppression.
Parler and Gab are, essentially, right-wing Twitter clones that have been banned by the iOS App Store and Google Play Store. Not on Freedom Phone, however: When a new user boots up their Freedom Phone, Parler will be right there on the homescreen, ready for them to use.
After the Capitol Riots, Google, Apple and Amazon AWS stopped doing business with Parler. After the site crumbled, hackers archived every post and video its users had made, which helped lead to a lot of them being arrested for their roles in the January 6 Capitol Riots. Parler is back online, but its users have mostly fled to Telegram and other services. Gab, meanwhile, has been repeatedly hacked.

I give this... two days before it becomes the victim of hackers, phishing scammers, and porn bots.
Also I did some digging around, and apparently a conservative Christian phone provider exists that I was not aware of:

It was set up as a pyramid scheme (again, of course) and one of my associates, who I swear falls for every single last con down the pike, tried to on-board me for around a year.
He can't stand Branson, yet, he does everything Branson does. It's sick.

How was he allowed to move from one disaster to another for 50+ years? That is really the question we should be asking ourselves.

(10,303 posts)As far as I'm concerned, Android is the original "freedom" OS. Google and Samsung do a reasonable job at keeping me safe enough. I don't trust these freedom phone guys to keep me safe.

Freedom Phone's business model appears to entail buying a $179 phone made in China, applying free publicly available software to the phone, and then selling it in the US for $500.
