They just said on MSNBC that Trump said

if he was going to do a coup, he wouldn't do it with General Milley.

So he's thought it over.

See if President Biden ever speaks about who he would or wouldn't do a coup with.

1. Yeah, apparently Milley would be a poor choice for that.

Milley must be so embarrassed that he's not a great coup plotter.

2. Not to be pedantic, but "If I" would take the subjunctive (were going) if it were "contrary to fact"

"If I were you..."
I am NOT you.

But "I knew if I was going to move to Napa, I'd become a wine connoisseur, and I have!" = That is, if the statement is true, you don't use the subjunctive. I know this is falling away as a kind of weird grammar tick, but it's still used automatically by most of us when we're going to say something that isn't true.

To say, "If I was going to do a coup," means... he WAS going to do a coup.

An unconscious tell.

friend of his called him and told him, "You are an island unto yourself. Your loyalty is to the Constitution, not to any one individual no matter what is asked or demanded of you." Milley agreed and said he still deeply regretted his role in "protecting the President" during that clusterfuck, Mussolini-Lite photo op in June where peaceful protesters in front of the White House were teargassed.

I'm so relieved that we had enough patriots like Milley that the center did indeed hold. We were terrifyingly close to it not. Donald J Trump and today's Republican party are the worst things to happen in this country since the Civil War and I am not exaggerating.
