On January 6th.
According to Nicole Wallace:
"Pence feared a conspiracy, feared that the Secret Service would aid Trump and his ultimate aims that day," said Wallace. "This is the most harrowing version of Mike Pence's day I've seen reported."

Incredible addition to the story of the insurrection.

Can't piss off his Lord and Master if he wants to do that!
Idiot.

(17,984 posts)Eventually Pence will tell all. The surprise in the book is that Ivanka tried to get him to stop the mob. Didnt Trump eventually come out, tell them to go home now?

And when he did finally tell them to go home, he told them what wonderful people they were and how much he loved them.

1) in the end he didn't hump Trump hard enough and
2) he has the personality of a paper towel

(3,392 posts)CPAC should be a warning to him. Even if he was a good man, which he is not, republicans will never vote for him because the see him as a traitor who was not able to turn the election results to the side of the buffoon.
I think he knows he is still being looked at as an enemy, he must be very paranoid.
I tell you, republicans have no guts, no principles, they are all a bunch of cowards. It is amazing.

(13,776 posts)And he didnt just do the right thing for show (we never heard about this until now) or, conversely, pretend to be unwilling to subvert democracy by allowing himself to be whisked off to Alaska for his own safety and leave Trump to carry out the treasonous plan.
He actually may have been the last firewall between us and tyranny. I loathed him for all four years of the Trump horror show, but I am impressed by his actions on January 6.

(43,158 posts)We escaped because as concentrated as power is in the White House, and as many stooges as Trump installed, power was still divided enough for just enough gatekeepers to do what was in the best interests of the country. But this was a narrow escape.
Big take-away: Pence was thinking. Call me amazed.

SS told Pence to get in the car, he refused to saying, I know you guys will drive away!
Pence and his wife went to a safe place. Pence actually refused to leave untoil the Secret Service convinced him they were in the building..Jim Jordan said they needed to protect the ladies. Liz slapped his hand away and said, You Fin caused this! She is good friends with MIlley. Talks to him often.

(436 posts)I hate him as much as, if not more than shitty britches. He could have spoke out and stopped everything before it started. He knew EXACTLY what was going on

(9,670 posts)The politicization of that agency should be the cause of great alarm. I wonder what has happened post-Trump within the agency.

(26,071 posts)They literally reassigned some both after the election and after January 6 and January 20, because they feared for both the Republic and Biden and Harris.

(42,554 posts)The gallows the MAGAmob built was chilling, but just getting Pence off the premises, even for his own safety, would have effectively halted the vote certification. Got to give him some grudging props for doing the right thing there.

(15,089 posts)Was because he feared that the person driving might be a Trump fan. He was worried about being kidnapped!!
At least, that's my understanding.

(42,554 posts)And the longer the delay, the more time Donny would have had to rally his faithful minions in the House to obstruct and delay further. Not that they would have changed the outcome, but they could have added even more mess and chaos to an already bad situation. It was the right decision to get back in there and finish it up as soon as they could.

(28,793 posts)but all i could do was sit here and fret.
clearly there were people both in the police and in the military and secret service who were on board with the insurrection. question was, were there enough? fortunately not, but i was scared that day. I knew there would be violence that day, though i didn't foresee an actual insurrection at the Capitol.
what trump did must have validated pence's worst fears. and what is that cowardly weasel saying these days?
just ordered the book.
