SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Two Northern California men in federal court were charged with conspiring to attack the Democratic headquarters in Sacramento, the U.S. Department of Justice Northern District of California said on Thursday.

Ian Benjamin Rogers, 45, of Napa, and Jarrod Copeland, 37, of Vallejo, began plotting an attack on targets they associated with Democrats after the 2020 Presidential election and attempted to gain support from an anti-government militia group, the DOJ said.

Both men allegedly planned to use explosive devices in their attacks and hoped their actions would spark a movement to overthrow the government.

Rogers has been in custody since his arrest on January 15. On that day, law enforcement officials searched his home and business and found a cache of weapons including 45 to 50 firearms, thousands of rounds of ammunition, and five pipe bombs, officials said. Video from earlier this year shows the Bay Area business where police say Rogers was stashing guns and explosives.

and oh by the way, i think it's safe to presume there are others linked to these terrorists. Report does not say one way or the other.

The thing about Copeland's phone not having the communications between him and Rogers, because he deleted them, does not mean the feds can't recover them as we all know. So I wonder why that factoid wasn't included in the report.

Whatever. I'm happy to see these two arrested and charged, but we know there has to be more linked.

dudes were armed to the teeth and jacked up steroids.

It's interesting, that it took the Grand Jury all these months to hand over an indictment. With the evidence shown here, (and apparently it isn't everything they have) it would seem to me to have been a "slam dunk"..

But still, Copeland remained free until July 7th.. and when his place was searched again, a significant stash of steroids was also found.

I'm glad he's been arrested, and I hope the request to have him detained pending trial is agreed to by the judge.

That was amazing read, appreciate you providing that for me.

on a side note, I'm still curious about what kind of "Business" Rogers owned. The files simply refer to the generic term "business".

Seems the business he was involved in was arms trafficking... gotta link up to a big trafficking operation.
