(268,725 posts)and even on her last day she had to correct herself by saying former President Trump after she called him President Trump. Not once did she ever call him Trump. Funny how she always managed to call him President but just used surnames for Speaker Pelosi and President Biden. .

(14,061 posts)Just switched on Morning Joe and Mika was dropping hints. I came here to ask what was going on.
Is she getting another gig with MSNBC?
That show needs a bit of quirkyness at that time of the morning. It was Willie Geists to start with. I really hope they dont put Jonathan Lemire there
I like him, but he can put me back to sleep. Way Too Early reminds me a lot of the early morning ABC News show back in the 1980s with Anderson Cooper. (Dating myself here.)
I wish Kacie well
in whatever it is shell be doing. Guess Ill find out when Mika gets around to it.

(182,632 posts)I see that she has at least one kid so that could be a big factor. Im not a TV insider but all the prep work before going on the air means she has to be up and running hours before air time. She may have a set up at home but still theres lots to get ready so its a professional presentation.

She's a decent reporter with lots of connections on the hill, but she seems very awkward as a host. She sounds relieved when segments are over.
I really liked Yasmin Vossoughian and Ayman Mohyeldin in that hour.
I'm on the east coast, and I dislike the "Why are you up so early?" segments. Five o'clock am is the time that regular people with regular jobs get up to get to work on time, especially if they have to do things like walk a dog or get kids ready for school before their morning commute.

(268,725 posts)I get up just before five (because we walk four days a week) but don't consider it early
I also agree with you re the former hosts

(23,593 posts)But she just wasn't right for the in an anchor slot. Her presentation was stiff, you could tell she was reading off a teleprompter. When she spoke spontaneously, without script, she came across much better.
Good luck to her in wherever she lands.

(47,285 posts)She looks very uncomfortable in that role and it can make viewers uncomfortable watching her. It doesn't appear to comes easily or naturally for her like it does for some. I remember when she got that Sunday evening slot and I was surprised as there were so many more talented people available. I tried watching her a few times and I felt like I was watching a high school teenager awkwardly interviewing seasoned adults and trying to act like a grownup.
She was fairly good as a reporter on the hill or on the campaign trail, but more than a few minutes of Hunt is way too much.

I'm more tolerant of her when she appears as a guest on other shows. She seems to be a good reporter.

(268,725 posts)Hunt surprised viewers Friday on her early-morning MSNBC program, Way Too Early,by revelaing that she was doing her last broadcast of the show. This is going to be my final broadcast with all of you, she said, vowing to reveal details of my new adventure in the next few weeks. An MSNBC spokesperson could not be reached for immediate comment on Hunts departure.
Hunt, who was also working as NBC News Capitol Hill correspondent, has been with the network since 2013. She has gained increasing prominence in recent years, and held forth on a Sunday night MSNBC program, KasieDC, before taking over the cable-news outlets early-morning slot on weekdays.

D.C. from NYC and the difference in the two cities was striking. For instance, they were building the subway in DC when I got there. I learned that the subway stopped running at 6 p.m. I was take aback
by that. The Kennedy Center was new and that was considered a landmark in terms of the city's culture.
Now I think Washington based reporters try to stay away from too much yadda yadda about the route of the legislation and more to the substance.

The camera got a closeup of Ruhle at the same time she was trying her hardest to squeeze out some tears. She had her whole face screwed up but not one tear. I was embarrassed for her.

CNN has snatched Kasie Hunt, the Capitol Hill correspondent long viewed as a rising star at NBC News, as part of an aggressive bid to push the WarnerMedia cable-news outlet into the new frontier of streaming video.
Hunt surprised viewers Friday on her early-morning MSNBC program, Way Too Early, by revealing that she was doing her last broadcast of the show. This is going to be my final broadcast with all of you, she said, vowing to reveal details of my new adventure in the next few weeks. What she did not disclose, according to two people familiar with the matter, is that she will join CNN to focus largely on content that is produced for streaming viewers as part of a big bet being made by Jeff Zucker, president of CNN.
CNN spokespersons did not respond to queries seeking comment Friday morning. Hunt did not respond to a query sent to her via social media.
CNN is trying to hire dozens of people to help fuel its move into the streaming arena, and one person familiar with the matter said Hunt was offered an annual salary of between $1 million and $1.5 million that NBC News felt it simply could not match. This person suggested that Hunt could play a pivotal role in CNNs streaming efforts, appearing online at moments of great national importance, such as during presidential elections.

(7,840 posts)Also, I was always surprised that MSNBC moved her to such a random time slot (5am ET). I thought she was one of the up-and-coming stars of the network. Then I thought, well, Willie Geist also had such a time slot way back when, so maybe they envisioned her as having the same sort of trajectory (e.g., 5am show, some appearances on Morning Joe, then a bigger role with the Today show or whatever NBC's morning show is).
If I were her, I wouldn't like the idea of being tucked away on some streaming service that I doubt will be very popular. We'll see...
