Former KGP Spy - Russia groomed Trump to be an asset for 40 years

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/jan/29/trump-russia-asset-claims-former-kgb-spy-new-book

Donald Trump was cultivated as a Russian asset over 40 years and proved so willing to parrot anti-western propaganda that there were celebrations in Moscow, a former KGB spy has told the Guardian.

Yuri Shvets, posted to Washington by the Soviet Union in the 1980s, compares the former US president to “the Cambridge five”, the British spy ring that passed secrets to Moscow during the second world war and early cold war.

Now 67, Shvets is a key source for American Kompromat, a new book by journalist Craig Unger, whose previous works include House of Trump, House of Putin. The book also explores the former president’s relationship with the disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.

“This is an example where people were recruited when they were just students and then they rose to important positions; something like that was happening with Trump,” Shvets said by phone on Monday from his home in Virginia.

Those of us from the NYC area knew about this decades ago......

It was only the rubes in the midwest who were bamboozled in 2016.

Do we really need to go through the number of votes that swung WI, MI, and PA and look at the she a igans that went on with voting machines and other suppression tactics in key counties and the amount of interference by foreign entities?

Nah, midwesterners are all just stoopid makes a hell of a lot more sense. Right?

Grew up here, and now am back. We are not well thought-of in certain parts of the country, and I always did my best to defend our honor. When Trump won, I wondered why I bothered.

WE didn’t lose that election.

30 years of disinformation against a candidate because she didn’t want to bake cookies or some other imagined slight against her. Voting machines sent without power cords. Voting machines not working. Voting locations shut down. And many MANY other reasons.

Furthering this idea that people in the midwest are just stupid isn’t going to win many over. It is the same propaganda that continues to push people away and the EXACT reason that the media pumped out for why he won. “Democrats and liberals do not understand the rural voter, and fail to reach out to them”.

Bullshit. The same issues that apply to inner city voters apply to rural voters as well. But calling them stupid doesn’t help us at all.

Just the idiots who watched his scam reality show and thought he was a brilliant "businessman"....

Look on YouTube. There are literally hundreds of 2016 interviews with Trump supporters who make anyone with an IQ above 50 CRINGE at the stupidity of what they believe about the traitor.

Trust me, there are plenty of "rubes" in my state of Arizona as well. Now, however, they've been mostly replaced by out and out racists.

Sure there were multiple problems with the 2016 election, but one can't deny the stupidity of a large percentage of the American voting public.

And, yes, midwesterners are the stupidest bunch of rubes, on average, that I have ever dealt with. They are far worse than even the bubba rednecks I grew up around.

But, that's just my observation. It could just be the area where I live.

Midwesterners have a bit of a reputation elsewhere in the country, and unfortunately some of it is deserved.

Trump's personality would suggest more of the darker sides of those type of things.
