A simple, cheap (free?), DIY, at-home Covid antigen test. Where are they?

I know they are technically feasible. Imagine if a government made it a priority to get such tools into the hands of it's citizens, so they could monitor their own Covid status on a regular basis.

Why hasn't this happened?

I don't know about free ones, but I know Amazon sells them. I searched ( "at home covid test" ) and they have a decent # of options.

I'm wondering why our--or any--govt hasn't taken steps to get them into the hands of every citizen.

Agreed.

Although I'm sure:

A) repugs would make it hard to pass anything which included $$ for it
B) covidiots would do something stupid with the tests they receive (in protest)
