when you have more votes than voters. period.
the turn out in this country is a clear indicator that we OUGHT to make it easier to vote.
listening to one of the tx dems on velshi, and he mentioned that 60% of drive-thru voters were women, and that many had kids in car seats.
i never found it difficult to vote. but when my kids were small, it was a thing that took juggling.
and i remember all too well how hard it was to juggle some days.
if it had meant the kind of ordeal for me that it is for toooo many in this country, i'm not sure i would have voted in almost every damn election in my lifetime.
last year i did a drop box. i do like stepping up to that booth, but i def appreciated taking my time. i'll do it again, esp when it's a long ballot.
but those usual turn out numbers, compared to how many risked their lives, stood in long lines and otherwise went to great lengths to be counted this time tells me there is much to be done to make this a modern democracy that actually represents everyone.
we are far from a perfect union.

(31,895 posts)Have any idea how difficult having small children in tow makes everything? Of course not.
Do they expect women with small children to come to the poll location on Election Day and stand in a line for an hour or more with two cranky toddlers? Would they themselves think of doing that?
I would have welcomed drive up or mail-in voting for sure back in the days when I had 3 kids under six years of age.
This is a perfect example of why every state should have mail-in or drive-in or early voting FOR ANY REASON.
I suppose these male republicans would just say, Why dont you just leave your kids at home with the nanny.
Or worse, Dont worry, little lady, your children need you at home! Just let your husbands vote count for you, too!

it used to be a deal to drop a filled out absentee ballot on election day.
