(21,257 posts)The years of Reagan radicalization saw the GQP start to make science vs. religion into a binary choice as a way to pander to evangelicals. Democrats were generally on the side of science, evolution, and facts so the GQP had to be the opposite. Much like today's vax vs. antivax idiocy. It's a pitfall of duopoly.
