(23,091 posts)I guess I hadn't looked at the bigger picture for the entire west. I always focus on CA because I lived there for 20 years and still have some friends for life there. It's really disturbing what is happening with the water levels being so low, I am so worried for my friends and now the people of the entire western US.
The mountainous region of Montana, where much of the west's water comes from, it was 102F for about two hours yesterday and expected for today as well. I used to come here back in the 1970s and 80s and it never got over 85F in a heat wave. Now, it feels like the summer I spent in the Anza Borrego desert thirty years ago, only in Montana which is scary. And for reference, most of Montana is north of the 45th parallel.

(32,633 posts)Most of Oman is a flat desert, with rivers that carry the water out to the ocean. So I guess the excess rain was more than they could normally handle. Seems like their buildings and roadbeds aren't made to withstand against that much water.
