He's more interested in scoring cheap political points with his drooling, knuckle dragging, mouth breathing base than making smart decisions that benefit the residents of his state.

Ron DeSantis: Lifetime beneficiary of wingnut affirmative action. Never would have made it on his own. Angry chihuahua from hell.

4. Red Tide Along Gulf Coast

Family was in Venice FL decades ago. Red tide has been a problem for a long time. Issue really being the amount of nutrients being pumped out of the Mississippi into the Gulf. Beaches that weren't regularly raked were strewn with smelly corpses. Often the water was irritating to the skin (not that Gulf water in July at nearly 90 degrees is very refreshing). I have no idea how sea turtle, dolphins and manatees managed but maybe it wasn't so bad back then.

Not to say I'm blaming the Gov of FL for this problem but it takes a real leader to step forward, recognize the problem and attempt to solve it. Fat chance a politician of any stripe would take on that thankless task.

We have similar issues in the Chesapeake Bay but at least we have a commitment from the contributing states to try and solve the problem. To do something even remotely similar would probably involve nearly half the country. I have little faith there is guts enough in the heartland to take the necessary steps to solve the Gulf's red tide problem. That would mean addressing outdated sewage plants and agricultural runoff.

Given that task, I'd say addressing Climate Change via fossil fuel phase out is more likely to be solved before Red Tide is.

was in the bays of Long Island back in the 80's. Wasn't at all like what's happening now, but it did alter my menu choices. Haven't eaten a raw clam since.

Fitting that it should land on DeathSanta. Sorry for Floridians who didn't vote for this moron. The rest got what they paid for.
