Should he be?
Should he be leading them in their efforts, sort of like Barr did with the SDNY? Is that an appropriate role for the Attorney General?
He may be doing just that and we have not heard about it?
And maybe not?
We don't know?

(8,387 posts)The US District Attorney for the Southern District of New York is a federal prosecution office, which is part of the US Department of Justice.
It is not a state office.
The federal justice system, and the federal courts, are organized into geographic districts (with some minor exceptions for specialized courts such as the CAFC) which, in large states, may be several districts, or may be a single district for a smaller state. In New York, there are four districts, the Southern District of New York, the Eastern District of New York, the Northern District of New York, and the Western District of New York.

US Attorneys may also be women, and the current US Attorney for the SDNY is Audrey Strauss.

As you might surmise by the website address for the SDNY, she is an employee of the US Department of Justice. The head of that department is Attorney General Merrick Garland.
