by seeming to try to please republicans while also trying to be "down" with Black people and other Dems?
I don't know. Let's see what he does with the 100 million.

(16,355 posts)"Business)Jeff Bezos, the Amazon (AMZN) founder and world's wealthiest man, said Tuesday after flying to the edge of space that he planned to award $100 million each to CNN contributor Van Jones and chef José Andrés.
Bezos said that Jones and Andres were free to do "what they want" with the money.
"They can give it all to their own charity," Bezos said at a press conference after his trip to space. "Or they can share the wealth. It is up to them."...(more)

(31,261 posts)He is already well off, so my guess is he spends the money on more charity activities that he is involved with.

I am a huge fan of Chef Andres.
I dont like the idea that Bezos has bought himself some good PR at a time when his abuse of wealth for entertainment occurred. Let Bezos fix the problems he has created on earth (pay his taxes, make Amazon jobs come up to standard) and THEN he can have his gadgets.

(1,896 posts)Good grief. Chef Andres has a history of charitable works. That 100 million he gave to Van Jones should have been given to a charity. Not a political commentator. So many hungry kids who could have benefitted from 100 million and he gave it to Van Jones. I just can't even.

Something like that.

(7,638 posts)How dare they accept charity money from a man who rode a dick into not-space! They sully the good names of charities by doing so and we should shun them!
They should have refused but now we can go after them for taking the dirty money.

Van Jones was involved in Dream Corps. Maybe he could use it to push for criminal justice issues such as sentence reform, actual rehabilitation through real job training and expungement of non violent records upon completing the sentence? There's also the green/ environmental aspect of Dream Corps or the tech equity.
I'm curious what will be done. The public is watching. I don't see either man keeping a penny of the money.

Jones is on the right side of history. He is not my enemy.
I like him. 😊
