Driving home today. I work in Secaucus (over the bridge) and live a few miles from the PA border in NJ.

I am located approximately equidistant between Bootleg and Dixie. The smoke is very dense today. I should probably be wearing a respirator. But NY City? Insane.

But the fire season is still early. Hell, the new normal fire season ends in late December, and resumes in early January.

I'm not kidding myself, and know the smoke will ultimately arrive, but I am am appreciating it absence.

Total hazy/smokey sunset tonight with the sun almost obscured. We are under an "Air Quality Alert" which may explain why my eyes have been stinging all day.

I've lived in this area for about eight years now, and today was definitely the worst haze I remember seeing here.

Texas and southern states are being affected with low air quality from the Sahara sands blowing across the ocean!

Crazy how far these things travel.
