. . . . . highly suspicious. Completely untrusting. Trying to figure out why. There is ZERO altruism with the GOPee.

(25,355 posts)in plain, direct language as killers with their disinformation, they knew that they might be sued by angry people who believed them and got sick or lost loved ones to covid. Self interest motivated them to distance themselves from anti vax BS.
Exactly.
Aiding and abetting?
May be to late for them. It has been over a year and now it is escalating. Wonder if some doctors and nurses can sue them as well.
Fugg Fox.

(31,261 posts)Remember, those are the assholes who called our side alarmist about climate change and made all types of degrading jokes about us.
My guess is their numbers people have shown them the county map of where people are dying of the a Delta variant, and they realize that they will be losing a lot of toss up House and Senate races in 2022 unless they stop the carnage in red America.

(24,824 posts)I think Fox News is a follower and not a leader.
I think there is NO concern about the well being of their voters.
My suspicion is that if the pandemic continued in red states, the GOP would suffer humiliating defeats.

Fact is we are all back to being screwed.

(38,410 posts)We're on track to have well over 200,000 cases by September 8 (that was the calculation when the 2-week increase was 109% - now it's around 200%).
Even if they start the vacciation process today, and get Pfizer (the shortest, highly effective vaccination), it will be August 25 before they are fully vaccinated. That's already well over 100,000 cases a day (again, using the 109% increase, not the current one). I don't even want to plug the number in for the current rate of increase.

Will Tucker also follow along?

(27,835 posts)They've finally figured out the bleedin' obvious - that it's mostly Republican supporters who are refusing to be vaccinated and/or take other precautions. Ergo, it's their own voters who will be dying as a result.
So the GOP is down to two choices: (a) promote the vaccine to their constituents, or (b) figure out a way to make it legal for the dead to vote.

(27,835 posts)... when the stats started being reported. Kind of hard to push the 'vaccinations are pointless' meme - when it's the unvaccinated who are sickening and dying at such an alarming rate.
Given the gullibility and abject stupidity of the average Republican voter, one can only wonder how many of them will finally realize that they've so obviously been lied to all along.

(15,556 posts)Even if another half million die that's not enough to turn an election, IMHO. Business is freaking out about another closure or not getting back to school. Kids don't go to school, parents can't go to work. Business suffers. In addition to stock prices going down.
My guess is business people told Fox to knock it the F off on anti vaccine BS.
I am seeing lawsuits, so many lawsuits.
Cha
(317,721 posts)Ha! Not a lawyer and don't play one on TV, Cha.
However it cannot be legal to spread this type of propaganda. Personal lawsuits from viewers? It could tie them up in court for years and a huge amount of money spent to counter said suits. People have been sued for far less, see Rudi.
Dunno, it is just a guess.

Both want complete power and control while hogging all the monies.
For now, elections are important. If the republican cult is sick and dying even gerrymandering won't help win elections as well as voter suppressions laws because in my opinion we out number them and by far more vaccinated.
Infection rates are high in the rural areas and areas that have less vaccinations, hospitalizations are up.

(15,511 posts)... their Republican voters, right?
If some trusted GOP consultant had to point that out to them, the GOP leadership clearly hasn't been paying attention even slightly!
Which might be true, since former Ohio Governor Kasich became very upset at a CNN reporter for even suggesting that Republicans were more vaccine hesitant! That happened only two or three mornings ago, I think.
Kasich raised his voice while stating that Ohioans in higher age groups had the highest vaccination rates overall, as if that disproved the CNN reporter's assertion immediately.
He then pointed his finger at vaccine-hesitant African Americans, young people and rural people who never want to be told what to do.
Never mind the polls that show Republicans are much more vaccine-hesitant than others! Kasich acted like he wasn't going to tolerate such "lies"!
