(23,078 posts)They measure this every few years for compliance and include anyone that works for the corporation that has clinical workers because there is often close contact. Bet Death Sentence isn't aware of that or he'd sue to stop it. Folks that worked there were vaccinated in Jan/Feb.
Edit - fixed typo

(23,078 posts)Like I said, I retired 4 years go. However my good friend who took my place said they had treated this the same as regular flu vaccinations & it was required unless you provided a dr. note that it was unsafe due to a specific medical condition and why or unless you provided proof of Covid vaccination elsewhere (none were available here at that time). Death Sentence was keeping all the supply for the rich counties and repug officials until Biden took office and started shipping directly to the pharmacies and large centers.

(422 posts)And lead to lawsuits. It's a choice to try to harass/annoy people into choosing the vaccine option.
Considering the mayor's almost legendary unpopularity, I doubt this works.

(422 posts)"Dr. Denis Nash, an epidemiology professor at CUNY, said he did not understand why the mayor would take any effective tool off the table at this point. Many cities and settings--such as New York City public schools--are relying on a multilayered approach to protection; wherein vaccination is combined with masking, social distancing and other measures to provide protection.
There is no single strategy that will keep New Yorkers as safe as possible," he said. "Any effective public health to our current COVID situation in NYC needs to be multifaceted and multipronged. That means focusing, in smart ways, on vaccinations and masking and social distancing. All at the same time."

(2,258 posts)My son's college required all staff and students to get weekly tested last year. They never had a large outbreak even though the state university on the other side of town had numerous. Mandatory masks outside your dorm room. Take and go dining. The whole works.
This year you have two options.
1. Have proof of vaccination. You can go mask free around campus. Return to normalcy.
2. No vaccine -- You must mask at all times outside of your room. You must pay for a weekly covid test. These usually go for $150 a pop if you are asymptomatic because insurance does not have to pay for testing people who are not sick.
Do the same for all employees at all work places. I'm betting there will be a lot more compliance.
If you want your FREE-DUMB it comes with a stiff price tag -- $600 a month.

(6,158 posts)My wife and I got our shots in March at the Javits Center in NYC. That would have been the time to require mandatory vaccination of all public hospital workers.

(24,262 posts)have been refusing it. Remember, not everyone who works in a health care setting has a medical education. There are cafeteria workers, engineering, clerical, housekeeping, groundskeeping, etc. Then you have people who have genuine medical or religious reasons to not get vaccinated.
Our local hospital is at about 65% vaccinated and they consider that good.

(20,638 posts)You want a job? Either get the shot or prove a doc recommends against it for legitimate health reasons. And then, you should be restricted to lower-risk patients and/or exposure.

(111,222 posts)but hospitals have most likely been doing that for him, making sure their workers and patients are protected as much as possible and that means everybody gets the shot.
