It is a sad state of affairs when the Pythagorean Theorem, so basic, is misidentified like that.

...it's not teaching you to hate circles by excluding them from the theory. I don't think it's a matter of misidentification.

Which shouldn't be called "theories" at all because no amount of experimentation would confirm or deny them. I think the media should start calling them "conspiracy rumors", which places them in the appropriate epistemological category. "Theories" sounds too scientific.
