I was reading about the company and I had been calling it moderna, like modern with an a at the end. I got the impression reading the history, the name was Mode RNA. spikevax seems like a silly name. they could have gone with something tougher, like covid bruiser or smasher or something, but whatever.

I once worked in package design, one over the counter drug we worked on ran through 7 name changes before being finalized.
Drug companies routinely trademark names they don't have a product for, but are willing to sell it to someone who wants it bad enough.
