Or is there something exceptional about our corporate shitheels ?
I'm ready to have a stroke today over trying to deal with AT&T and / or WOW as cable / internet providers. They are the only two companies in our area, and the most either can brag about is that they're maybe not as big a bunch of bozos as the other. Can't contact WOW except through their outsourced call centers, and as much experience as I have dealing with non-native speakers of English, I am getting damned sick of having to make so much effort just to explain their companies' mistakes to them so that they understand. And that's really the *smallest* aspect of the whole problem -- the big aspect is the corps have all the power of near-monopolies, and "consumers" -- which is all we are regarded as -- have no choice but to deal with one devil or another.
Someone explain to me again why a map of areas covered by different service providers looks like a jigsaw puzzle that someone puked up ? Whey are there only two providers in our immediate area, when we are surrounded by others ?

(5,670 posts)In November I spent 11 hours over five days speaking with reps at higher and higher levels on a problem that was never solved. No surprise.
I just a few days saw a late posting to my June bill for April data overage -trying to charge me an extra $100.00! I average data usage of around 400 g and this was 2065. I spoke to several reps each who elevated -finally to second level Security. They said tough luck- it must be your fault.
In November, I KNOW at least twice my call WOKE THE REP UP somewhere on the globe. On my first call with THIS problem, I woke a guy up- I am positive. (I hung up.). Im done.

(32,675 posts)If so and if you get unlimited data, you can a small box from Verison or just use the hot spot on your phone. No more cable for internet.
Not sure if it would work for you but worth looking into.
I just hooked up a $49 arial and have free Samsung tv. I can get live MSNBC thru a website in Europe. With that arial, 17 more channels. The local PBS station and a CBS local. I'm getting tons of tv for just the cost on internet. I'm going to move the arial around tomorrow and might get a bunch more. Saving over $100 a month with on the cable.

Please provide a link for that, if you can.

(32,675 posts)it has a Hot Spot option on it. My friend got a little box for internet from Verizon for $45 per month. We used it at his up North and we could all run out phones and a laptop on it. I think 2G works.
