Now that McCarthy has pulled the Republicans (except Cheney) from the commission, could

Pelosi appoint other Republicans of her choosing? Or did the other moderate Republicans turn her down. I'm thinking about Adam Kinzinger, Peter Meijer, or John Katko.

He seems like a reasonable repub so why haven't we seen him defy the voting block of republicans on some of these bills such as the infrastructure bill?

because he is not a reasonable repub. He is my rep and I don't trust him.

I doubt that there are any reasonable repubs left. They have all been beaten into submission.

On edit: I attended an Indivisible affiliated lunch meeting today. Someone stated that Kinziner had been asked to serve and had turned down the request. We moved on to other business and I did not get a chance to verify that.

in consultation with, or after consulting, I forget the exact language, the minority leader.

So he "named" five, that counts as consultation I guess, and now she can select whoever she chooses because she has done the required consultation-- but she has to make the calculation about will they show up or not, because the ones she names might not do so depending on how they calculate their best personal political angle. Meanwhile she has to figure out how her moves, their counter moves, counter-counter-yadda-yadda, all interact, it's a whole mess of stuff to think about, with uncertainties at every turn.

(CNN)House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is considering naming GOP Rep. Adam Kinzinger to join the select committee investigating the deadly January 6 insurrection at the US Capitol.
During a news conference on Capitol Hill on Thursday morning, Pelosi said, "We'll see," when asked about the potential appointment.
"I mean, there are some members that would like to be on it," Pelosi added. "But, we'll see."

Rep. Bennie Thompson, a Mississippi Democrat who's been appointed chairman of the new committee, said Thursday that adding Kinzinger to the panel has been discussed with the speaker. Thompson said if Pelosi signs off, Kinzinger will be a "welcome addition."
