Former Sen. Bob Dole (R-KS) told USA Today that there’s no question that Donald Trump lost his reelection race in 2020.

Said Dole: “He lost the election, and I regret that he did, but they did. He had Rudy Giuliani running all over the country, claiming fraud. He never had one bit of fraud in all those lawsuits he filed and statements he made.”

He added: “I’m a Trumper. I’m sort of Trumped out, though.”

Reminds me of when I was looking up Hugh Downs and stunned to learn he was still alive (at the time). He passed about a year ago at 99. Shocked the hell out of me. I thought he'd died ages ago.

Dole knows better, and at this point, he has nothing to lose by saying so. If he wanted to fade from the scene as a Republican with integrity, to the extent that such a thing still exists, I don’t get why he would blow his chance for it. He gains nothing but scorn and derision, and gets nothing in return. He used to be known as a far better horse trader than that.
