French President Emanuel Macron's statement:
I no longer have any intention of sacrificing my life, my time, my freedom and the adolescence of my daughters, as well as their right to study properly, for those who refuse to be vaccinated. This time you stay at home, not us. "
In France, those who do not get vaccinated will no longer be able to go to restaurants, cafes (from the beginning of August), cinemas and museums (from July 21) and get on airplanes or trains (again from August). Alternatively, you will have to submit a negative test, which will no longer be free (49 euros for the PCR, 29 for the antigen).
Macron then announced the vaccination obligation for medical personnel and for those who work in contact with fragile people. Since September 15, a nurse who has refused to be vaccinated will no longer be able to go to work and receive a salary. "We cannot make those who have the civic sense to get vaccinated bear the burden of inconvenience," Macron said. "The restrictions will weigh on others, those who for reasons incomprehensible in the country of Louis Pasteur, science and the Enlightenment still hesitate to use the only weapon available against the pandemic, the vaccine."
I am aware of what I am asking you," he said, "and I know that you are ready for this commitment. This is, in a sense, part of your sense of duty."

I'm sure he'll run into a massive wall of resistance, and hundreds of demonstrations opposing every detail that might affect any one narrow interest group. I hope he finds a way to surmount it all. He has laid out quite a shopping list, that's for sure.

New Delhi: A tweet went viral on social media claiming French President Emmanuel Macron has asked those who refused the Covid vaccine to stay at home. A quick fact-check however reveals this is fake news.
Journalist Selvaggia Lucarelli shared an Instagram post featuring a photo of Macron and a long caption in Italian.
Almost a week later, a quote from the post was widely shared on Twitter; the first account to tweet was an unverified one. The tweet has since been removed and the account suspended.
"I no longer have any intention of sacrificing my life, my time, my freedom and the adolescence of my daughters, as well as their right to study properly, for those who refuse to be vaccinated," reads the translated quote, which was lifted off the Italian journalist's post.

(2,576 posts)This is how it should have been from the beginning. Unfortunately the Brawndo party was in charge then. However now a year and a half later after 600,000+ Americans have died (actually closer to 1 million if the under reporting studies are correct) & the vaccine clearly showing it works and is not some nefarious plot to take over the universe and since the only people dying now are the unvaccinated a.k.a. the Brawndo Partys base they are rapidly changing their tune and brushing aside the its got what plants crave crowd and acting responsibly.

There is no greater critic of France than the French people themselves, and if Macron is being sensible here (and he is), you can bet he will be rewarded for it by waves of protests and strikes from the very people whose lives he wants to save/improve.

(28,469 posts)PARIS When France and Germany launched their coronavirus vaccination programs late last year, officials in both countries assured that the shots wouldn't be mandatory in their societies, where vaccine skepticism is widespread.
But more than half a year later, the two nations are going further than most other Western countries in granting privileges to people who have been vaccinated and making daily life difficult for those who aren't.
These aren't mandates. Not formally. But in practice, some of the measures come close.

Florida and Texas have both thrown 180's in the past days when it was revealed that Republican/non vaxers were the ones getting wiped out by the droves..............the people who got vaxed were almost entirely getting a little sick and that was all........
It seems mother nature has finally found a way to make it political party specific.......LOL
