Remember the priest who helped lead the charge to deny Pres. Biden Holy Communion?

Perhaps a guy who frequents the dating app Grindr wasn't the best spokesperson for that effort.

To my mind, this has nothing to do with the fact that it was an app catering to gay men. The fact is, the Catholic Church proscribes any sexual activity outside of heterosexual marriage.
For me, it's all about the flaming fucking hypocrisy of this shithead attacking my President solely for political purposes.
It is WAY past time to start taxing so called religious organizations who routinely engage in nakedly secular politics.

When I was at a Catholic university, there were a lot of gay men in the seminary. (Yes, we referred to it as the "semenary&quot .

Super cute guys, too.

Do I think they all went on to live chaste lives if they made the choice to become a priest?

No, no I do not.

given he was an administrator, not a bishop. The bishops themselves are responsible for whatever statements or mis-statements the group makes.

As a mere monsignior, he wouldn't have been allowed to vote. Or make policy. The guy's got enough problems, so put the blame re the communion policy on certain bishops who made their dislike for Biden clear long before the election.

If it was just him doing his job and announcing the vote, then we don't really know his views on the matter, do we?

So the OP is really deceivingly worded. Seems intentionally so.

Now I just kind of feel bad for the guy.

Ah well, we all make our choices. He promised to be chaste, and well, don't make promises you can't keep.

I think there is a passage in the Bible about that, something somethin speck in your brother's eye, something something plank in your own?

I personally think that the Church's doctrines on homosexuality and celibacy in the priesthood, and sisterhood are political in nature and not based on any spirituality whatsoever. But it is there and so, if Mr. high and mighty is going to pronounce judgement on the President of a secular country, enforcing the secular laws of that county, he should have his own behavior in check. Mr. I am breaking one of the seven deadly sins (Lust).

Is about property rights. Back in the day, clergy could marry and have children. They would then potentially bequeath stuff to their kids.

The Catholic Church is always about the $$$.

I don't remember the source. I also don't remember the year when the rules about clergy marriage changed, but the reason given was to keep property in the hands of the church and out of inheritance by the children of married (and unmarried) clergy.

Not too terribly long after they split from Constantinople. I remind you that Orthodox priests are allowed to marry, although they must do so before ordination. Bishops are supposed to be single men, though I'm not sure why. ISTM that Paul said a bishop should be the husband of ONE wife, so I don't get that entirely. Episcopal clergy, bishops included, are allowed to marry and it's assumed that they do/should.

Orthodox bishops is to remain single, and that martiage for them is frowned on, but not forbidden.

I went to high school with a guy who became an Orthodox priest and then a bishop. He was married and had two children.

I clicked on the link. masturbation is a mortal sin?

When I was a teenager and found out the other purpose for that thing between my legs, you could have mistaken me for a little zoo monkey. If you looked at my bedroom with a blacklight it would have looked like a Jackson Pollack painting.

It's a good thing I don't believe in Heaven or Hell. My picture would have been on all of Hell's travel brochures.
