A 34-year-old congregant of Hillsong Church and graduate of Hillsong College died Wednesday after a month-long bout with the coronavirus during which he posted jokes about the COVID-19 vaccine. Bidens door to door vaccine surveyors really should be called JaCovid Witnesses. #keepmovingdork, Stephen Harmon tweeted on July 8, after posting in June: IF YOURE HAVING EMAIL PROBLEMS, I FEEL BAD FOR YOU, SON. I GOT 99 PROBLEMS BUT A VAX AINT ONE! He made memes about trusting the Bible over Dr. Anthony Fauci. But in late July, Harmon wrote that he was on max oxygen and struggling to function. His final tweet July 21 asked supporters to pray for him as he was about to be intubated: Dont know when ill wake up, please pray. Brian Houston, the president of Hillsong Church, announced on Instagram, Stephen was just a young man in his early 30s. He was a graduate from Hillsong College and a vital part of our church in California. He was one of the most generous people I know and he had so much in front of him. He would always turn up to our grandkids soccer games and he will be missed by so many. RIP.

(12,358 posts)They set up to do this because they know we are gonna be in Washington in Aug when our rightful president gets back in the White House. The ones with Fouchi Chips get tracked by Biden's stooges and stopped before they can reach the Capital. The rest of us...
they ain't gonna know where we are.
Yes Martha. Its sarcasm.

I am just furious that these people are just so callous to throw people to the wolves for some bullshit political score.
My empathy is starting to become tempered, where now I no longer feel compassion or empathy for these anti-vaxxers, but look at their deaths no differently than that livestock. So much energy trying to persuade them to care for themselves and for others. The kicker is that these people often call themselves Christian, and yet don't even look out for their fellow men & women in society. They don't even look out for the welfare in their own congregations. It is that lack of care and concern that really drives my apathy to their deaths. There are so many people to worry about, so much suffering the health care workers and their families have gone through and we've gone through so many inconveniences--and these fuckers are exacerbating the issue and contributing to yet another wave of death and restrictions.

(33,643 posts)There are legitimately decent people getting sucked into this nonsense, I know a couple of them ... this guy might've been a fine person in many respects, just misled.
But still I want to be all 'Idiot!' instead of feeling bad like I should and would have, years ago.
It's just TOO frustrating, just watching so many people be just so goddamn stupid and gullible to propaganda and groupthink.
I 'pray' that when this young man avoided a vaccination, he knew the risk of this course, and accepted his fate when the time came like the tough guy he was on twitter. I hope it was not frightening and painful because took he comfort in his faith, (believing he's) meeting his sky daddy, and was steeled by a deep sense of righteousness in his cause ... denying science and pwning libs.
Songs will surely be sung of him, throughout the years ... by real-life Heralds, no less. With wings, probably.
Did that sound ... nice, at all?

(1,849 posts)I grapple with wishing that covid kills them off, for spite and safety. Do I really wish them dead?
Not really, but then I think most of those who refuse the vaccine deserve that fate. And that's not who I am or who I've been throughout my life. I'm a kind, caring, compassionate person who's lost some of that. I hate how the rethugs have handled and responded to this crisis!
Yet I have several close friends who are not vaccinated. One is on disability for mental issues, and she has a son turning 11 in October, so he's not eligible. She started homeschooling several months before the pandemic hit. We're both very health conscious, live, organic foods whenever possible, limited ingredients, no additives or preservatives. But she doesn't trust the vaccine, and I told her while I had reservations I decided to get it, like a test subject. She's not willing to be a test subject. My heart breaks for her, and her mental issues that contribute to her refusal to get the vaccine, and I've tried to convince her gently for months. Meanwhile she has lectured me about the importance of insurance (life, homeowners, appliances) but doesn't get that the vaccine is insurance against covid! She does wear a mask. She's rethinking the program her son was set to return to in the fall because of the Delta surge. She has a heart condition and is at risk if she were to get covid. I pray for her safety and that she'll get vaccinated.
The other friend had covid in early 2020, before they were diagnosing it. She was in hospital in February and again in March, they thought it might be sars, she ended up with long haul covid, developed lupus (her dad got lupus at 63, she was 57) and COPD, and RA so now she is immunocompromised and in Florida and the vaccine was not recommended for her, and if she got the vaccine she might not have immunity anyway so she wears a mask. Her 92 year old mom and 35 year old son did get a vaccine.
So I still have some compassion for my loved ones, which keeps me from wishing some form of retribution (specifically death) for anyone not vaccinated. Both of these friends are Dems.
I definitely have more compassion for unvaccinated Dems because it's not a political choice.
Rethugs, they made their choice and should suffer the consequences. Maybe I wish them a quick death rather than prolonged suffering. I guess I still have some compassion.

(50,546 posts)Jesus asked him, "Why didn't you take the vaccine? You'd be standing in front of Me at the age of 90, not the age of 34."
Stephen responded, "Oh Lord, I trusted you over the words of heathen scientists. I knew believing in You would save me."
Jesus replied, "and...why do you think I invented the vaccine?"

(7,203 posts)The now-deceased Mr Harmon was a shit who made jokes about a respected scientist who was trying to save lives, including the lives of weasels like Harmon who criticized and insulted him for doing, literally, the work of the Lord. In doing so he may have influenced others to follow his stupidity.
How does that make him one of the most generous people I know?
