Where are the white progressive groups demonstrating on Capitol Hill for voting rights? Why isn't the @womensmarch leading a massive protest? When will Latino & Asian groups mobilize protests on Capitol Hill? Why is most of the energy coming from Black organizations? I'll wait.— rolandsmartin (@rolandsmartin) July 22, 2021

I'm cynical . Huge protests don't get televised and don't change anything in the USA mucifer Jul 2021 #9

We have yet to see a major voting rights March this year. March On for Voting Rights will take place in DC on August 28 (in commemoration of The March on Washington on that date).

Certainly Black organizations are at the forefront, since they are the most (but certainly not only) affected group. Everyone has a stake in this (the elderly, disabled, among many others). It remains to be seen who will join in the historic (hopefully) major March. (SEIU is already a co-organizer).

...the State of Mississippi is moving forward with striking down abortion rights. Black people don't lead the country in abortions. A Federal judge just ruled that DACA was unconstitutional. Black people are not the main group affected by that. Where are the P*ssy Hats? Why aren't the DACA citizens storming out there getting arrested like African American groups?

Keeping our heads down while the Capitol Riot case goes forward, perhaps. No need to divide our focus right now. They are the bad guys, not us!

I hope one of the reliable groups starts moving soon, though.

A good friend of mine was really angry with me for not participating in the 2017 women's march. I asked her how many times she'd called or written her members of congress the previous year & she had the good grace to say, "Point taken."

The last time We the People lit up the Capitol switchboard was the financial crisis of 2008.
