"Remember when Politico said DeSantis “won the pandemic”?
Florida fiasco

It’s a seasonal virus and this is the seasonal pattern it follows in the Sun Belt states,” he said this week. (He blamed “quote-unquote ‘experts’” for criticizing the unvaccinated.) The governor is busy though, selling anti-vaccine merchandise, like “Don’t Fauci My Florida” t-shirts.

Question:
Does the Beltway press care about the state’s drastic Covid U-turn?
This spring, journalists lionized DeSantis’ supposed virus leadership— it was Politico that announced, “How Ron DeSantis Won the Pandemic.”
This, after 30,000 Floridians had already died from the virus.

This is the same DeSantis who spent last year trying to silence scientists, covering up data, rescinding mask ordinances, playing down the virus' threat, fighting with the Florida press, and portraying himself as a maverick under attack. He even foolishly placed one million orders of hydroxychloroquine in tribute to Trump.

The irony is that DeSantis is now facing a Covid crisis specifically because his supporters — Republicans — aren’t getting vaccinated

I am terrified about that. They are smart, but if something is not done about that state, the damn virus will be attacking the plant life soon! My new nephew is now 2 years old. I visited him right after he was born and had to drive from Minnesota to be safe enough to do it. This is ridiculous and I am still at a loss as to why we are being 'civil' about murderous idiots like DeSatan.

so this pandemic would be impacting unvaxxed GOP voters now. In a way, that could be winning.

Or go for the throat?

I'd suggest the latter.

Seems to me, though, that it requires more, and MUCH stronger, than merely to "suggest".

Once in a while you'll see "40% of new COVID infections are in three states". And that's it, move on to something else.

It's time for the media to attack MF45, his Congressional lackeys, and republicans in general for being stupid and completely careless. They're directly causing the deaths of tens of thousands of people.

...that 40% if from 3 states with 16% of our population.
250% disproportionate infection rate.
In the article I read on this, this huge imbalance between people & cases wasn't touched on. At all!

Remember that Gov Cuomo called out DeSantis and said "you played with this virus and you lost." Indeed he lost and he is still losing.

Cuomo, a Democrat, was asked by CNN’s Alisyn Camerota about comments made by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Republican, who said the state’s quarantine on New Yorkers earlier this year “saved lives” and reduced the spread of the virus.

“I say to them all look at the numbers,” Cuomo said in response, referring to conservative states seeing a rise in Covid-19 cases. “You played politics with this virus, and you lost. You told the people of this state, you told the people of this country, the White House, ‘Don’t worry about it. Go about your business. This is all Democratic hyperbole.’”

16. Covid Reporting Can Be Unreliable
Fri Jul 23, 2021, 04:40 PM

I believe Florida switched to weekly reporting. The best available date from Johns Hopkins shows a 7-day moving average of just over 4,200 cases. But when cases are doubling week over week this lagging number will be low. I believe some other states have gone to weekly reporting as well but when you have hot spots like we are now seeing this stale reporting is problematic.
