To be fair, if I were such a fervent follower of TFG that I was willing to die for him a year

ago, would anything change my mind now? would I grow brain cells, back down, admit I was a moron all along, do what I was told and get the shot? I'd have to ask myself. Is it even humanly possible to eat that much shit? I think I'd die anyway. Nope. The only option should be to ride it out at home no matter what. I would feel like it was a point of honor. No way would I go crawling in to an ER and ask them to help me. But that's just me.

I think they do believe it. I think they thought all those people were telling them the truth.

The poor slobs.

(or a cult, which Trumpism really is), the harder it is to change their minds. They have isolated themselves from any contradictory information, and even if that information were presented to them they would reject it out of hand. People don't want to find out that they were wrong about something; it's embarrassing and makes them feel foolish or gullible. And the more extreme their beliefs are, the more they will hang on to them because being proved wrong about having bought into something that's totally awful, absurd or insane will out them as really, really stupid. So, rather than risk being seen as a right idiot (and especially to have to acknowledge that to themselves), they'll dig in even deeper and dumber.
