Don't Let Your Cell Phone Kill You!

I was sitting on the upstairs deck at our new townhome this morning. I watched a neighbor walk by, looking down at his cell phone. I thought that he was probably going to turn and walk up the bike path, but he didn't.

Without looking up at all, he started to walk across the uber-busy four-lane arterial rode that passes by our development. Brakes screeched. He didn't get hit, but people drive 50 miles an hour on that road, even though the speed limit is 35. He was distracted enough by his phone to not even check traffic before stepping into the street.

I hope he pays better attention in the future, and caution everyone not to walk while looking at a cell phone. It's a very dangerous thing to do.
