I don't agree with mask mandates, but the solution is obvious. Every employer should require them. Every venue should require proof of vaccination. WWII could do mandatory rationing. The casualties are about the same.
Every where you damn go you have to carry your vax card like a driver's licence. The damn things should have been smaller to fit into your wallet.

(12,462 posts)And yeah vax cards needed to be wallet sized. Don't know why they are so big.
Also they should be harder to reproduce so fake vax cards aren't around and the card should link to a database to prove one is vaccinated and up to date.

No politician under the sun is going to touch mandatory vaccinations

(1,495 posts)The only ones still wearing masks are vaccinated people and now we have another surge.

(4,673 posts)but not mask ones?

(7,611 posts)Wearing them. I'm not up to date on the studies of how effective they are. But we know the vaccines work.
somewhere in the federal statutes there is an argument to be made for the federal government to require vaccinations. After all the CDC thought they could stop evictions. This is much less of a stretch.

And the first major turn-down coincided with the implementation of mask mandates. You can easily confirm this by comparing dates states implemented mandates and the state curve 2-3 weeks after that mandate.

Needed edit.

(33,999 posts)My brain power is limited at the moment (so far today I've had to play with obscure provisions related to trusts, future interests, civil procedure, torts, and wills), but I found an analysis of the issue (I've only skimmed it).
Here's the link (since Istill have the page open): https://crsreports.congress.gov/product/pdf/R/R46745

We might even be able to reach herd immunity if employers would put the screws to people and make them choose between jobs or jabs.

(33,999 posts)The relevant portion starts on P5. (I haven't hada chance to read it - I've got~120 students taking the bar exam on Tuesday and Wednesday who are demandng most of my brainpower). But a quick skim suggests there is a bit more wiggle room than I would have expected.)

(7,611 posts)Substantially for the unvaccinated. Health insurance, life insurance? Jack up the rates! We need to go on a war time program.

(21,709 posts)Hope that will show up, I just did a search on vaccine card holder on Amazon. It comes with a lanyard. When I wear it out, people always ask where I got it from.

I think governors, and perhaps federally from Biden, have some solid legal footing to begin some enforcement on public safety grounds

(35,421 posts)If there was approval, we could move forward with mandatory vaccines. Starting with public employees and the military which would then motivate private employers who have to cover their employees' health insurance costs.
But, it all starts with the FDA.

(41,818 posts)One right now can you go on amazon.com and find a myriad of different kinds of masks. There are sports team masks, lifestyle masks, masks that promote TV and movies, I have a ton of different kinds and styles of masks. I found one that fits me very well. I have met more stoners wearing this mask. People walking by going Right on! And you protect yourself and others. How fun is this?

(3,334 posts)A question for a lawyer. If a company mandates a vaccine that is not FDA approved and a worker gets sick from it can the worker sue the company?

(34,163 posts)Vaccines are intrusive whereas masks are not.
Don't get me wrong, I think 90% of the population should be vaccinated, but I'm torn between two principles I hold dear.
