(29,149 posts)It's not as though he could react at the moment of unexpected impact, since his body is being moved by a much stronger force. Then there is a second or two where he gets stable and deals with shock, presumably, wondering what the hell is going and how the hell that happened.

But when something hits you like that suddenly out of nowhere while your mind is somewhere else it's a different situation. I can see myself reacting like him but not because i'm a calm person that has a handle of the situation. But more because I would just kind of be shocked and wondering if this really happened.

(89,244 posts)I understand using them when you're not home, for security. I don't get why people want them on all the time. ETA I don't think this was a set up or anything. But I also wondered about the camera. I initially thought this was a public place, like a restaurant dining room.

(34,135 posts)That is one way to make sure elderly relatives are OK when they refuse in home assistance. About twenty years ago I knew a guy online who set up cameras all over his father's house when his father refused home care or to move to assisted living. His father was so independent, he would only answer calls once or twice a week from his son. So the son, who lived in a different state, put cameras inside and outside the house to reassure himself that his father was OK.
