Acute Septic Pancreatitis. Damn! (if someone posted about this, I missed it)
I remember bumping into him at a Hummel gift shop in Munich many many years ago. It was a pretty amusing story because I don't think at the time he'd ever traveled much outside the US and was pretty clueless in a very endearing way--even to my sister and me, mere kids at the time.

I love prog rock, so this is sad. Kansas made some great music.

They recently played in my area (South Florida) as a very remade seven-member band, with only two of the original members. I didn't go. It's too much like a cover band playing that old music I love.
Rest in peace, Robby Steinhardt, original Kansas violinist.
